"Welcome Home" Memory File

Hello All!!

Keri Sallee here...ready to show you another fantastic project featuring Susan's Whimsical Paper!!

I have always loved the color combos of Susan's paper, but when I was looking for something in my stash to add with it I couldn't find anything that played well with the colors...until...I found my Heidi Swapp Color Pop Memory Files!

The coral color mini folder was a PERFECT compliment to Susan's colorful paper.

Here's what I came up with!

I originally thought this would be a great little book for someone buying their first home, but then I thought BIGGER! It could be for a new baby or an adoption or a couple getting married. SO many options!!

I loved the idea of my little couple holding hands and since home is all about love, I added a little natural wooden heart from Studio Calico. My little people are from Hobby Lobby.

I didn't want my people to be flat acrylic, so I gave them each a healthy layer of Decoart One Step Crackle. This gave my couple not only shine, but some fun interest.

My title is made with letter stickers from 7Gypsies and  Wooden Letters from Pink Paislee. Again, I wanted my letters to have some texture and interest, but since I didn't want them to "match" my couple, I decided to mix my crackle paint with some acrylic to give my letters a little more of an aged look. This also helped to tone down my BRIGHT yellow letters.

Ready for the inside?

I wanted my inside to be versatile, so I added a place for a single photo on the left and a mini book on the right for a lot more photos and journaling.

The book was made by simply adhering 4 mini files (from 7Gypsies) to a piece of Susan's Paper than I had folded into an accordion shape.

To add some fun, I used some bright Tim Holtz Distress ink on the tabs and a cloud from Susan's Paper with some stamped images to form my cover.

All of my stamped images were colored in by simply watering down my acrylic paint or coloring it in with my white gel pen. Doing this allows the stamped images to show through. (Just a note: Make sure to use a permanent ink, like Ranger's Archival Ink in Jet Black like I did or else your ink will smear when you paint it.)

So there you go! I hope you liked today's project and it inspires you to make something fabulous!

Until next time friends...choose to make your art intentional...not an afterthought!

XOXO,
KERI

A hand-made Christmas Stocking

Hello everybody!

Emmy here with my Christmas project made for the 5th Annual Christmas Love Campaign with Susan K Weckesser Inc.

This is such a special cause and I hope you will participate with us this year. To jumpstart everyone with some inspiration, the designers at Susan K Weckesser Inc are celebrating a Handmade Christmas from Nov 2-16, and sharing projects handmade in honor of this campaign. We were provided a great selection of products to work with by some amazingly generous sponsors. Thank you to our sponsors. Here are the wonderful sponsors for the 2013 Susan K. Weckesser Inc. Handmade Christmas:

For my project I used products by Susan K Weckesser & Unity, Canvas Corp, Tattered Angels, 7gypsies and May Arts Ribbon.

For my base I used Canvas Corp raw canvas stockings. I decided to add the star pattern using Tattered Angels "Ferrari Red" Glimmer Mist Chalkboard and Prima marketing masking template.

I decided decorate the edge of the stocking with golden decorative stitch.

After the paint was dry, I sewed two stripes of May Arts ribbon to the top part of my stocking. The golden one I folded in a pattern to give more festive look to my project.

I tied a bow, where I wanted my tags to hang, using two different types of May Arts ribbon.

For my tags I used the special Christmas campaign Snowman stamp from Susan K. Weckesser Inc. Each purchase of this stamp will donate $3 toward the Christmas Love Campaign. Here is a direct link so you can buy your One of a Kind Winter at Unity Stamp Co.

I decided to color the snowman with different embossing powders from Sparkle N Sprinkle. Then I added it with 3d tape to the tag base.

To create the tags I used 7gypsies Santa's Journey gift tags. I fussy cut some of the images and adhered them to the base tags with 3d tape.

Here are some more close ups from the finished project:

I hope that you enjoyed today's post!

Christmas Love Xmas Stocking

Hi Jennifer here, I am so happy to participate this week in the Christmas Love Campaign -

Handmade Christmas event!  It was so much fun digging into the generous items the sponsors had sent and making something to give away to one of my loved ones!  I am going to stuff this stocking with a great set of handmade cards!

I first started with the Canvas Corp canvas stocking and cut apart the seams of the stocking so I could sew directly onto it.  I did not completely cut it apart I left the top in tact as I did not want to totally recreate the stocking.

I then cut various pieces of May Art ribbons and placed them onto the canvas.  I tacked them with glue into position before I sewed them down.  Each ribbon I sewed along the edges attaching them to the canvas.  Once I was done sewing I re-sewed the stocking back together around the edges so it could be filled up again!  I then used the stocking canvas as a pattern to cut the ribbon back to the edges of the stocking.

I then went into my button stash and found some that matched the colours in the ribbon, I just glued them into place with a craft glue.

I tied a big silver May Art ribbon around the top of the stocking that you hang it from.  I then stamped Susan K Weckessar "Itty Bitty Snowman" onto a kraft tag, I then added a sentiment from Fancy Pants "Merry Little Christmas" line of paper and embellishments.  I layered onto the tag a small TO/FROM tag to the top of it, this was from 7 Gypsies Santa's Journey gift tags.  I pinned the tags to the middle of the silver bow and added a resin snowflake to the pin as well.

Here is the finished product! A cute little colourful stocking ready to be filled.

I hope you enjoyed today's project. We hope you will come play along during for Hand-Made Christmas Contest
