Pretty Home Card

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today with a card using tons of fun products.

The card is created from Core-dinations Neutrals Cardstock and lightly sanded about the edges.  A second layer of black cardstock was cut slightly smaller and also sanded.  Using Art Anthology's Bone paint with The Crafter's Workshop stencil -  North Star.  I created the background.

Next I tore some green Core-dinations Spotted Cardstock and added 2 rows to the bottom of the panel to simulate some grass.

I stamped the house from Unity's Little Haven stamp set with black ink on White Core-dinations Cardstock and added some color with Clearsnap Smooch Ink.  To create the roof line, I used The Crafter's Workshop Brick Stencil with light brown ink.  I fussy cut the house and added it to the card.  "home" was also stamped and inked, and added to the card with foam adhesives for dimension.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Best Ever w/Core'dinations & TCW

This is a picture of my son Morgan during his spring photo shoot at school in 2nd Grade.  He had a lot go on during this school year.  He moved schools, houses, cities, moving away from all his friends and other family, and for Morgan change is hard.  He handled it, not the best way, but things got better as time went on.  He is defiantly stronger now, but we have a long way to go.  I always want the best for him, he is such a sweet kid, his his smile melts my heart.

I used the wonderful items from the September Birds of a Feather Kit to create this layout along with Susan K. Weckesser stamps and stencil.  I went for a masculine feel with a dark edge to it.  The pops of gold represent the light at the end of the tunnel, where there is dark there come light!!  I used a ton of the elements from the kit in unusual ways.  I used the twine on my strips as accent pieces along with the cork geo tags, and added a few other fun embellishments from my stash too.  I did add some journaling here and there on the strips too, but mostly they are part of the design.

Here you can see a hint of Susan K. Weckesser's "Beautiful Daydreams" cardstock and the Tags stamps I used from Susan K. Weckesser.  I used her brand new tag stamps "the Garden {what-not} collection" in gold and black ink on cardstock.  I cut out the shapes and layered them under the papers under the pictures.  Here you can also see one of the wonderful TCW stencils and some of the Core'dinations cardstock - companies we are partnering with!!

Above you can see some of the beautiful Gold Glitter Paste from Bo Bunny we got in our Sept kit used on a stencil from Susan K. Weckesser to create the dashed lines around the layout.  The gold glitter paste really pops here with all the dark elements I used.

Life may throw you curve balls, it may be hard, and it may seem that it is hard to get out of a funk, but I always try and remember there is light at the end; and it shines like gold glitter!!

Autumn Create to Live Challenge - Mother Card

Hi Susan K. Weckesser fans! Dana here today sharing a card that I created for the Autumn Create to Live Challenge. I combined patterned paper and cardstock from our partners Canvas Corp and Core'dinations with the Susan K. Weckesser Motherhood is a Verb Stamp and some vintage embellishments for this card. I was inspired by the challenge inspiration block for the colors and theme of this greeting.

I stamped the image with Archival Ink and then added color with Distress Markers. I loved the spool of thread, pins, button and doily from the inspiration block, so I framed the image with those items.

We'd love for you to share your project based on the picture above. Write a blog post and link-up your project to the challenge submission on our sidebar to the left. After you post your project, make sure to tweet about it, share it on Facebook and Pin it as well! Use hashtag #createtolive when tweeting or pinning so we can find and share your posts. Your project can be anything you create using this picture as your inspiration. Using Susan K Weckesser Inc products are not required, but are ALWAYS welcome and appreciated. :-)

The prize for this challenge will be drawn randomly by Inlinkz when the challenge ends on 10/31/2014 at noon EST. The winner will receive The Garden {What-Not} Collection Stamp Set co-branded with Unity Stamp Company. We can’t wait to see what you create!

Mixed Media Card

I love to have cards on hand for any occasion, leave the front blank and you can write what you wish inside to have the cards fit for what you need.  for this card I can see myself using it for a teenage/tween girl birthday, think of you, thank you, or Valentines Day.

I used some of the wonderful Banner stamp from Susan K Weckesser to create the background to this card.  I then added in some May Arts Twine, Core'dinations cardstock, and Prima Flowers.

Be your Own

My Brandon is a feisty, hardheaded, loving, energetic, wonderful child.  He has these looks that make you wonder what he is thinking, what is he ready to tackle, what is he scheming?  It never fails he makes some of the best pictures, you just get lost in the possibility of what he is thinking.  He is really is my sweet Brandon!!

I did lots of layers here, layering in all the different patterned papers from the kit, chalkboard cards, and a few fun embellishments.

Here I took strips of papers from the end of the 12x12 sheets (the end with the bar code on them) and layered them on the left side of the layout in various lengths and added in bits of the sparkly trim, burlap, some stamps from Susan K. Weckesser saying "Celebrate the Simple Things" and "Don't go through life, Grow though life", sequins, grey enamel dots and the little camera sticker.

You can see more of the Susan K. Weckesser stamps saying "Create your day" and "Don't go through life, Grow though life" from the stamp set above along with her stencil.  I used some new Graphite paste from Prima with Susan K. Weckesser zigzag stencil going vertically and also the dots along the bottom edge of the layout.

Here you can also see some more Susan K. Weckesser Stamps and stencils in the zigzag and now in the line of "x" in the same graphite paste.  To learn how to tear paper, please see my tutorial on the Art of Tearing Paper.

Lady in Summer - Tag with Core'dinations/Clearsnap/Tattered Angels

Tags are a fun way to try something new, step out of your comfort zone, and just play.  Why not play a little with the last bit of summer left!!  Can you not just imagine being the lady walking through these bright gardens on a beautiful summer day?!?

Susan K. Weckesser's papers just scream summer, bright and cheery and perfect for putting a smile on your face.  I played with the layers of her "Beautiful Daydreams" paper, placing a full 12x12 paper into the size of an A4 tag.  I took bits from each element (sun, could, kite, and flowers) and layered and used foam dots to create dimension of a lady walking through a garden on a summer day.  I then back it with Susan K. Weckesser's "Live in color" green side paper and used lots of ink and Ranger Stickles to make things pop!!

http://www.susankweckesser.com/susan_k_weckesser_incproducts

I did a ton of fussy cutting, some layering on top, and some behind the main section of the tag and the lady.

I used the stunning lady stamp called "Poised and Pretty" from Susan K. Weckesser.  I used the cute little hat and jumper outfit and stamped it with Clearsnap Mixed Media Inks in yellow then used Tattered Angels mist in pink.  The ink resisted the mist so it created a wonderful contrast.  I stamped everything in Core'dinations cardstock in beige.  Lastly I took Pitt Pastel pencil from Faber-Castell in orange, yellow, red, and mustard and drew in contrasting colors on the hat and dress.

Don't forget to stop every now and then and smell the flowers, take a day to just enjoy the garden, and the warm sunshine before it is gone!!

Album Of Inspiration Using Tags

Hello Everyone!
I can't believe that August is just flying by so quickly. Decided to share a fun project I made this month using tags. It would be easy to use pre-made tags but I really like to make my own.
Using some of my favorite products from Susan K Weckesser and Coredinations to make a fun Tag Book for someone.

Love this great core paper especially for embossing and distressing.
See how nice it looks embossed and then distressed.
I used Poised & Pretty and Painted Sentiments  on top of some fabulous Susan K Weckesser papers...did I share how great these papers are? The weight is perfect for any type project.
Live in Color Scrapbook paper collection
Such pretty designs that Susan designed herself
I wanted to share how I stamped, cut out and added this sweetie with pop dots for dimension.

Here is my cardstock album without the tags, I added some Umwow chipboard pieces to my ribbons.
One last look at my tags all dressed up. I am going to add inspirational poems or sayings using the words on the front.
Here is my tag book with tags all ready to share.
Thanks for joining me today.
