I Care Mixed Media Tag

Hi all

I have a mixed media tag using the Clearsnap Color Pop Mini Inks and Susan K Weckesser Unity Co Branded stamps

I started off by stamping over a white tag with In Circle Me background stamp and then i mixed the white and red inks to make a salmon pink. I painted this on to the background and left the circles blank for now.

I colored in the circles with Ice Blue and mixed Navy Blue and Red together to make purple.

I painted up the MDF mask using DecoArt Fluid Acrylics Magenta and glued it to the tag before coloring in two hearts from the Grunge Hearts stamp set.

I then dribbled some of the magenta paint over the paper flowers which i inked with the colour pop inks. I miked the inks with water and painted them. I used the sentiment from the Bunny Hugs stamp set

Mermaid Kisses

Greetings!  Joyce Shaulis here to share another mixed media project with you for our October theme.  I love to go to garage sales and find hidden treasures.  On one of my excursions, I found this cute wood boat oar.  It has been packed away until now when this inspiration struck!

Here is a photo of the original oar- it was a nice piece meant for decorative painting or crafting.  It is 24" long and 5 1/2" at the widest point.

First, I began by using Susan's new co-branded stamp, "Spirit of a Mermaid" and stamped the mermaid with Mystery mini POP ink onto white cardstock.

Then I painted both sides of the oar with gesso.  When it was dry, I used Decoart acrylic Bahama Blue to paint the sky and water.  I used the color Sand to paint a shore and extended it out to cover the whole handle of the oar. 

 

For the mermaid, I used markers to color her in.  Then I cut her out with scissors. 

Next, I painted the lower section of blue in Calypso Blue.  Using Bubblegum Pink and Cadmium Yellow, I blended in lines of color in the sky and also a little of the water area. I then adhered the mermaid to the oar with Decou-page.  Then I used a bubble rubber stamp with Snow mini POP ink to stamp onto the water and over the mermaids lower body.  Allow ink to dry. 

With a pencil, I wrote out lettering.  With a small brush and a small stylus I painted the letters in Electric Pink acrylic paint. 

To give a dimensional effect of a sandy beach, I took rice paper and glued it down with Decou-page over the sand painted area.  I rippled it in areas  to give the effects of  sand hills.  Then I stamped Cocoa mini POP ink onto a foam tray and took a small damp paintbrush to brush the ink over the rippled areas.  I also cut out some small fish and starfish from tissue paper to adhere with Decou-page in the water and on the shoreline. 

Next, I took a charcoal pencil and edged around the fish, starfish, mermaid, shore and water line.  I gently smudged the charcoal lines with a Q-tip.

With hot glue and glue gun, I glued small seashells and sea glass in several small groupings on the beachy sand area. 

To finish up, I edged the perimeter of the oar with Mystery mini POP ink, just swiping the edges with the ink pad.  I buffed the ink a bit with a paper towel. 

To finish up, I coated the whole piece with Decou-page and sprayed the piece with matte acrylic spray.

I { Heart } Coffee

As September comes to an end, I will celebrate our friendship theme again - this time  with a Coffee card. Anyone who knows me will tell you how much I enjoy my coffee.. But I think that part of the reason that I like coffee so much is that I very often share my coffee time with friends. It is often in person but I also have many wonderful "conversations" with online friends as I sit in my studio sipping my cup of Joe..

I have a group of online friends in a Facebook Group called Coffee Loving Papercrafters. There are over 1000 members in the group. We share our love of all things coffee -- cards, stamps, dies, flavored coffee etc. Several times a year, there is a Coffee Lovers Blog Hop where we can link up our Coffee, Tea or Cocoa projects.This year the Hop coincides with my assigned post for Susan so what did you think my idea for this post would be ??? Coffee, of course !! But wait -- Susan doesn't have a coffee image !! Well, I wasn't going to let that small detail stop me...

I stamped the ornament from an { Artful } Ornament  with Colorbox Color Pop ink in Mystery and then traced a coffee sleeve on the stamped image and cut it out. It was colored with Distress Markers.. The coffee cup and lid are from the Sizzix "Fresh Brewed" Bigz Die. A piece of colorful cardboard created the coffee lid.. Small banners were punched out of Color Burst paper and curled a bit using a bone folder and to add another pop of color and some texture, a piece of We R Memory Keepers Bakers twine was wrapped around the top of the card.. I used my DYMO Pink Caption maker to create the sentiment at the bottom of the card..

Mini Tag Journal Using At Ground Level Stamp Set from Susan K. Weckesser

 Hello Folks!

I am thrilled to show you this fast and easy tag book I made this month.

I am still enjoying my new studio space.  It is a great place to create.  Many of my supplies and tools are right at my fingertips which makes creating easy and fun.

I started by stamping some shipping tags with 

Colorbox® Color Pop Premium Dye Ink by Susan K. Weckesser in Fresh.  For the first one I stamped directly on the tag.  For subsequent ones I stamped my acrylic block and then pressed my tag onto it.  I used a baby wipe to smear the color all over the tag before it dried (and to clean up my block).  Then I wadded up my tag and smoothed it out.

 Next, I used stamps from the At Ground Level set to stamp each tag. I added word stamps from the An Artful Ornament stamp set for one of the pages as well.

Then I just had fun by adding some extras with the Doodle Stencil, trims, and some more of the 

Colorbox® Color Pop Premium Dye Inks by Susan K. Weckesser. I used a tassel from my trims box and a piece of ribbon I removed from some flowers to loosely tie the tags together.

This would be such a fun project to do with your kids one afternoon.

I love shipping tags.  I buy them by the huge boxful from office supply stores.

I often tea dye them though I actually use coffee. I also dye them using dye and a ziploc bag.  I do them in large batches so they are ready to go when inspiration hits.

HOME - decorative wood mirror

Hi!  This is Joyce Shaulis with my August project theme, Exploring Our Backyard.  I chose to create something with mountains as that is where I grew up, and now we live in the foothills, but get to view our beautiful Rocky Mountains every day.  Today, I will show you how to create this decorative wood mirror using the Susan K. Weckesser products.

 

 

With the blue scrapbook paper, use Mystery and Sky Color Pop Mini inks to stamp "Celebration of Simple" triangles.  Stamp three in Sky and two in Mystery.

 

 

 

With a small brush, paint snow caps with Titanium White paint.  Brush Primary Blue along right side of mountains.  Cut out the mountain shapes. 

 

 



 

Insert a scrap of cardstock onto the mirror to keep it paint free.  Mix Primary Blue and Titanium White to make a light blue color.  Paint frame front with the light blue mix, leaving the last fourth of the frame natural.  Now paint the bottom fourth with Sour Apple.  Paint sky area with Shrimp.  Dry brush Canary on top.  Dry brush light blue over the Shrimp and Canary.  Lightly dry brush the remaining blue area with Shrimp.

 

 

 

Stamp on white cardstock with Mystery, using LeMason house and houses from the Tumbleweed House set with two clouds.  Cut out the sun from Live In Color Tags sheet.  Color stamped images with markers and colors of choice.  Cut out images. 

 

 

 

Use the Primary Blue and a cosmetic sponge to add a scalloped border with the Doodle Stencil. 

Use Canary and dotted line with stencil to border the mirror.   Stencil or hand paint a fence in Titanium White,  Use the flowers from the Doodle Stencil with Shrimp and Canary in front of fence.  Paint stems and leaves with Sour Apple. 

 

 

 

Paint a thin border with Primary Blue around mirror.  With Titanium White and cosmetic sponge, use sequin waste to lightly stencil over the light blue area.  With an old paintbrush and Decou-Page, glue on all cut out images.  Refer to photo for placement.  Add painted butterflies with a small brush.  Stamp HOME down left side of mirror with Mystery and a letter stamp set. 

 

 

 

Paint all four sides with Shrimp.  Add stripes in Canary and Sour Apple.  Add detail lines with Primary Blue. 

 

 

 



 

 

Darken the suns rays with coral marker and add dots to sun.  With charcoal pencil, outline the houses, mountains, sun, clouds, and fence.  Smudge these areas with a Q-tip.  Also, outline the frame edges with the charcoal pencil and smudge.  Completely coat frame front and sides with Decou-page.  When dry, spray with Americana Acrylic Matte Sealer.  Remove cardstock from mirror front.

Love Ya!

Hello crafty friends. I hope where ever you are the sun is shining and the birds are singing.

I love giving away cards I have made not just on days like birthdays but ordinary and quite random days. It's always nice to receive a surprise right? So here's a card I made . . . not sure who the recipient will be yet!

This card was my first time using this sweet girlie stamp. She was so lovely to colour in and to give this dreamy world to.

I began with a piece of 5in x 5in kraft card and painted the central area with gesso. Using the gesso keeps the colours bright. I experimented with a colour combination I hadn't used before. I think the coral and minty green worked well together. I then softened them by dry brushing some gesso over the top and then some painty splats and some stenciled dots. I love dots!!!

I drew the scallopy ground for her to stand on on an old book page and coloured using Brushed Corduroy distress ink. I stamped the clouds and coloured the same way. The girl was stamped on white card and coloured with Prismacolour pencils as were the flowers. A little bow and some paper flowers with pearly centers and faux stitching finished the card. I then glued it on to a white blank card of the same size. I got so lost in the process of this card I completely forgot about taking photos as I went a long which just shows I had lots of fun!!

If Friends Were Flowers

Hello crafty friends. 

It's Samantha here with my first February make and it's a card for a friend :)

My card is ATC sized which is 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches. So it's quite small but it say's so much. 

Inside it says 'I'd pick you'.

I started this sweet card by die cutting some circle confetti from white card and gluing in diagonal corners. When that glue was dry I used some of my favourite colours and painted the background. To give the background more layers I stenciled some white circles and coordinating flowers. I then stamped the flower directly on the card and on a separate piece of white card as shown...

By stamping on the card I could then go around the outline with a charcoal pencil. This makes the flower 'pop' a little from the colourful background. I coloured the flower using Prismacolor pencils.

I stamped the text using a random alphabet stamp set. We all have those right?

For the flowers I used the Journal Doodles with a Heart stamp set which can be found right here.
