Maple Leaf Mixed Media Canvas

Ice Resin SKWeckesser Canada Day

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Canada Day!

For Canada Day I wanted to give a friend of my a little something special because this week has been super crazy here in Alberta, so I created a little mixed media canvas.

Here is how I created my Maple Leaf Mixed Media Canvas.

Maple Leaf Canvas SKWeckesser Ice resin 1

· Take an old sewing pattern and after mixing up a small cup of Ice Resin, using a small paint brush coat the front and back. Set aside to dry overnight. Do the same to an old book page.

  • Print off picture of the Canada flag.

  • Give your canvas a base coat of white acrylic paint.

  • Let dry.

Maple Leaf Canvas SKWeckesser Ice resin 2· Spritz with water and gentle rub off paper to get an image transfer.

Maple Leaf Canvas SKWeckesser Ice resin 3· Use some of Tim Holtz Distress Paint to color up the sides of your canvas and around your image. Dab on some of the paint and then don’t be afraid to use a rag to work the color into all tear and creases.

Maple Leaf Canvas SKWeckesser Ice resin 4· Take the dried resined sewing paper and cut into strips.

Maple Leaf Canvas SKWeckesser Ice resin 5· Dab some Tim Holtz Distress Stain onto Ranger Ink Non-Stick Craft Sheet then dab the strips of Ice Resin sewing patterns through it. Let it sit for a minute and then spritz with a bit of water to let the color bleed a bit. Dab excess off with a rag. You can add other colors it you want.

· Heat set.

· Cut strips of the Ice Resin Book Page. Roll up and put a little dab of glue at the end so it doesn’t come undone.

Maple Leaf Canvas SKWeckesser Ice resin 7· Cut off 3” lengths of Ice Resin Sewing Pattern paper. Gentle fold in half and twist the ends to make petals for a flower. Make 5 or 6 of them.

Maple Leaf Canvas SKWeckesser Ice resin 8

· Glue to the back side of a cork circle. Now glue the rolled up Ice Resin book page on top.

· Take the remaining Ice Resin sewing Pattern strips and wrap the bottom of your canvas and top with the Ice Resin sewing pattern flower.

Maple Leaf Canvas SKWeckesser Ice resin 9· Using some Liquid Pearls from Ranger Ink, lightly outline the maple leaf to help make it pop.

Ice Resin SKWeckesser Canada Day 2

032·Gently brush on some of Ranger Ink Perfect Pearls onto the maple leaf to accent it. Mist & heat set.

Enjoy your canvas! BPC HS text banner

a card and a tag

Hi everyone....I wanted to share a card today using Susan's Motherhood stamp. it is such a true statement combined with a great vintage image. being a mother of 4 and watching my 3 girls be mothers-Mother is definitely an action word and way of being even if it is just listening.

I took cardstock and stamped Unity stamp co stamps (layers of life set for May) for a background. I also used stencils with heavy bodied acrylic paint (parchment) to create a little depth.
i finished it off with a bow from leather cord and i used some color box chox ink around the stamped image and the cardstock.

my next project is a tag using Susan's  A little bit Washi  stamp set. I stamped it on the cardstock tag and on some Tim Holtz tissue tape to add color. I then added one of Tim's frames on the smile stamp to highlight it. finished it off with a little chalk ink around the edges and seam binding stained with walnut stain

Home is where the Heart is . . .Studio 12 Stamps co branded with Susan K Weckesser

Hi everyone, Tracy here today to share a project using one of the
Susan K Weckesser co branded with Studio 12 stamps
that are here in the UK and I can`t tell you how much I love them and believe me they are gorrrgeous . . .
...you can find all 6 sets in the Polkadoodles shop HERE.

My project today - still using up odd bits and bobs of wood along with watercolor paints.
How it started off - A quick lick of white acrylic paint, then using an archival ink pad to stamp!
The wood is uneven so the roof looks slightly faded but I kinda like it.
Colored with Windsor and Newton Watercolor paints, a new love of mine.
I added a few bricks on the house along the way and a doodle here and a doodle there with a fine black liner pen.
I continued stamping the house and coloring all the way around, changing up the colors  along the way and adding more doodles.
I stamped the sentiment
Home is where the Heart is
chopped it all up and fixed a part on each little house.
Finishing with a little chipboard heart and another sentiment from the set.
With all the Susan K Weckesser stamps I now have in my stash { smile }I think I might get all inky and make a village with a little harbour for my Sail Away wooden Block I put together for my last post.
Well that`s all from me today.
Thank you for taking the time to look.
 Till next time
Hugs

Alberta Flood 2013

IMG_0345

It has been a very challenging and tiring 5 days around here at the Weckesser household. It has been an EXTREMELY hard time in Southern Alberta and in the City of Medicine Hat. Our hearts go out to all the people who have been effected by the Alberta Floods at this time! Flood Weckesser 2013 2

Being married to a Emergency worker, we have seen some very challenging times and extremes hardships; ourselves being evacuated twice because of wild fires up in Northern Alberta a few years ago, and being flooded out once when we first moved here to Medicine Hat three years ago.  However, I have to say…. this flood truly was something that no person could have imagined. This week-end we where expecting family to fly and travel in from all areas to help celebrate our son Kurt ‘s mission farewell. He leaves tomorrow for his  2 year Kobe,Japan mission. Instead, people were turned around and the friends that did come helped  volunteer with our family and sand bag or go door to door and notify people that they had to being evacuated. Even Friday night, my 15 year old daughter went out with church groups, Firemen and policemen to notify people of the evacuation. I was am amazed at her maturity in handling that situation and wanting to help people. On Sunday, after Kurt’s Mission Farewell talk…we quickly feed everyone that showed up, and then anyone that was able, headed out to sand bag, even guests.IMG_0395

Jessica getting back from sandbagging. She was so hot, tired, and dirty, but she was still smiling!IMG_0410The flats, downtown, and the low lying areas are pretty flooded. As of 7:00am the river waters were at 5300 cubic metres per second. Words just can’t express feelings, but you know how I express my feelings through my art and my photographs…..so here are a few pictures.Flood Weckesser 2013 4

We had left over food from the farewell, so we made deliveries to the fire halls. The emergency workers have been working SO hard!!!

As a wife of a emergency responder I often hear things as they happen or before and I often hear it all. I know how hard all the emergency workers work and the volunteers. Thank-you to everyone. Our HEARTs go out to everyone in this province at this time.

If you need assistant or need more information on the flood visit the Red Cross website.

We would also love to help any we can! Please keep safe!

Susan

Making someones day

Hello crafters! Rita Barakat here today!
In the business of life we all are still creating, so why not take the time
to make a few cards to make someones day?
It is just as easy to make multiple cards at the same time and then you always have something ready and personal for a friend.
I made these sweet cardson watercolor paper,
stamping and embossing with Susan K Weckessor and Unity stamps,
coloring them with Faber-Castell Aquarelles (watercolor pencils).
Then I cut and attached them to heavy pattern paper (DCWV) to make my cards.
Why not make some today and brighten one else day?
