Savour the Journey…

Savor the Journey Layout

Life has been a little hectic lately, so today I decided to practice what I preach and to "Savour the Journey."

How better to do this than to pamper myself by doing a few things that I like to do like visiting a couple antique stores, going for a walk by the river with my camera, and spending time with some fun paints , flowers, and paper.

Crop for Kids & Still Waiting for Spring Showers!

rain 4

What do you do when it just won't rain? Well, you create your own Spring showers! That is exactly what I did using ZIG Memory Writers from Kuretake, Some Copics, and a bit of Glimmer Mists from Tattered Angels. Drawing some rain and a springtime picture puts a song in my heart and a smile on my face!

I didn't have a chance to post some pictures from last week-ends Crop for Kids. So with Christy Riopel's permission….here are some. We really had a great time that week-end!

I had my camera, but I was so busy chatting that I didn't take many pictures  so thanks to Michelle Zemlack for these photos and to Christy Riopel for letting me borrow them off her blog.

It was fun to take part of the IRON SCRAPBOOKER Contest and I competed against two Canada's most creative minds Christy Riopel and Sonja McLean> It was super fun!!!

"The rules were to create an ATC, A Double Page Layout, and Card using only what was given to us. A small amount of scrapbooking stuff and a bag of stuff from the thrift store...like an old record, a plastic watch, a small bottle, sponges, wallpaper border, coasters, old board games and cards, place mats and such. And we only had an HOUR!!! "

We drew names for our sous scrappers this year and I got Christy's Daughter  Brittany! She was fantastic! She is so talented, not to mention she was one of the top ten finalist's in the Creating Keepsakes Teen Scrapbooking Competitions lately! Awesome!!! A lot of money was raised! Everyone was so kind and fun! Great Stuff!

These are the items that my 'sous scrapper' and I made in an hour!IMG_1684

IMG_1685    IMG_1688 (2) 1 (2)1IMG_1688 (2) 1I loved working on the old record and the cover! I think I am going to go to the thrift store & get some and try it again…this time with more time!

Thanks Jen Rowsell for everything you do! She really is amazing! More charities need people like her!

Have a very creative day!!!

Live in Color!

live in Color Layout

I love COLOR! The brighter the better or the more the merrier!!! When we moved into our new home here in Medicine Hat I really didn't know what to think about the brown color of the walls.

brown colors

I now adore them because I treat them as my neutral back ground and then I add pops of bright color throughout my house like spring greens, pinks, turquoise & reds! It is always fresh and exciting! That is how I like to craft and paint, with neutral backgrounds and bits of accenting colors!

This layout I designed using some of my paper line.  I added some embroidery floss, some cute little buttons from BoBunny, and some Glimmer Glam from Tattered Angels.

live in Color Layout 1

I had fun adding some extra color with some acrylic paint.

Then I did one of my favourite things….. doodling. I LOVE taking out a good marker…like writers from ZIG Memory System, and just having fun! It really can be relaxing!live in Color Layout 4

I like the look of paint on photographs.live in Color Layout 3

When stitching through paper, it can save you so much time if you make your holes in the paper first.

Well, this week-end I am off to Calgary and I really am excited about this! I get to help out at the CROP 4 KIDS event that is going on! Some of Canada’s most talented instructors will also be at this event including Leica Forrest, Virginia Wong, Kimberly Collis, Christy Riopel, and Sonja McLean! It is going to be a blast!

As the snow melts and the seasons start to change take a moment to look around you and enjoy all the beauty of the planet as it starts to wake up. Look for something small around you…. like a little plant growing, and take time to celebrate it. You will be amazed how something that simple can make you smile!
