Quick and Easy Decorative Tags

Hi everyone, Steph here today.   This month's theme is tags so I've created two tags using an assortment of Susan K. Weckesser products.

I've used large office supply tags as the base of my tags, but you could easily use a heavy weight cardstock if you prefer.  The tags were edged with Shimmer Color Pop Metallic Pigment Ink.

 

Cutting the Color Burst paper to fit the tag, I fussy cut a large flower from the Live in Color paper and added it to the tag with foam adhesives.   The cute fox from the Going Wild stamp set was stamped, colored and fussy cut then added to the left of the flower.

Bouquet paper was cut to fit the tag.  A large flower was cut from the Live in Color paper and added to the tag with foam adhesives.  I also cut apart the Live in Color tag sheet, using 3 words which were inked and added to the tag with foam adhesives.

 

Tags are really fun to create and are perfect for using up left over scraps.

Home Time Tags

Hi everyone, Steph here today.   This month's theme is tags so I've created two tags using an assortment of Susan K. Weckesser products.

 

 

I've used plain office supply tags as the bases and cut the Live in Color paper to fit the tags, edging it with Shimmer Color Pop Ink.

 

 

Using the Doodle Stencil with assorted colors of Color Pop Inks, I created a background pattern, then put the house #s inside the circles. Some torn strips of paper were added to the bottom of the tag and several Tumbleweed Houses were stamped, colored, fussy cut and added to the tag with foam adhesives.  I used "home" from the What's Up Gnomey stamp set. 

 

Using Color Burst paper, I cut it to fit the tag.  I fussy cut a flower from the Live in Color paper, adding it to the tag with foam adhesives.  Several dew drops were then added to the flower center.  I used "home" from the Tumbleweed Houses stamp set and the phrase from the What's Up Gnomey stamp set. 

Using the Doodle stencil, I created the house #s, but didn't like where I first stamped them so I added a dew drop to the center creating a butterfly.  Then I put the house #s in the correct spot.

On the reverse side of the tag I created a pocket to hold a check.

Walking On The Wild Side

Hi!  "Change is in the air" is our November theme and we are creating tags.  This is Joyce Shaulis sharing with you my creation of some fall tags.  I love creating tags and I make them often for the satisfaction of being able to complete an awesome project in a short amount of time.  They are fun to give away and to make in theme sets.

 

 



To begin, I used Mystery mini POP ink to stamp onto white cardstock along with Susan's co-branded stamp set, "Going Wild".

Next, I colored in the images with fall colored markers and cut them out.

Using Decoart acrylic paints, I painted two tags using Sour Apple, Tangerine and Bright Yellow with a wide paintbrush. 

With two sizes of sequin waste, I used Cocoa ink and Fresh ink to stamp through the stencils. 

 

Next, I used a small brush to make plaid lines and squiggle lines with the paints in Sour Apple, Bright Yellow and Deep Burgundy. Using a cosmetic sponge and the doodle stencil, I was able to stencil the numbers in Bright Yellow paint.

Then I adhered the colored, cut out images with Decou-page.  I also smudged the edges of the tags with Cocoa ink. 

Using a charcoal pencil, I outlined the images and gently smudged them with a Q-tip.  For added dimension, I smudged the tag edges in Mystery. 

 

 

I hope you enjoyed my little project and now I invite you to also 'take a walk on the wild side" and create some fall tags to share.

Mixed Media Skull

Hi everyone, Steph here today with a not so creepy skull.  It's mixed media month and Halloween is just around the corner.  I had this paper mache skull and knew it would make a fun project.

 

I stamped several colors of Colorbox® Color Pop Premium Dye Ink by Susan K. Weckesser ink on an acrylic block.  Using a paint brush, I picked up the inks along with a little water and proceeded to paint the skull.

 

I continued painting until the skull was completely covered.

 

Once painted, it was time to decorate.  Think of all the different elements you can add to make this skull personal.

 

Using the In Circle Me stamp, I inked it with Mystery Ink and randomly stamped it about the skull.  I purposely allowed some of the images to stamp incomplete because I was not looking for perfection.

 

Because of the skull's shape, no acrylic block was used.  I just push the stamps onto the skull.

 

I added 2 flowers in one of the eye sockets and added additional stamps around the skull.

I used the seeds from the What's Up Gnomey stamp set with Ice ink across the top and the small cloud from the Tumbleweed Houses stamp set with Kiss Ink.  And finally, I added gems, after all who doesn't love gems in any form?

Grunge Hearts Art Journal Page

Hi all

I have a new Journal page i created using DecoArt products and Susan K Weckesser Inc Stamps. I am still experimenting with textures and layering those textures up.

I wanted to show you haw to create layers using different stencils. So to start with i used a background stencil such as DecoArt  Pixleated and applied DecoArt White Modeling paste over the top which gives a lovely raised pattern when it dries. I then used the Doodle Stencil  and i applied white modeling paste to the number strip.

Next i used DecoArt Black Modeling paste with a Tim Holtz distress stencil and let it dry.

I stamped the In Circle Me  stamp down the center of the page and I then used a black marker pen to doodle on  some circles which i colored in using the Color Pop Mini Inks. I the used DecoArt Fluid Acrylic  Cobalt Teal Blue to pain over the background. I mixed it with water so it covered the pad easier. 

I then took the In Circle Me stamp and partially inked sections of the stamp before stamping it over the page.

I used the Grunge Fun Stamp set and stamped the stitching randomly around the page. 

I used Teal Metallic Lustre and rubbed it over the stenciling to bring out the detail and then i used the A Little Grunge Love and stamped the small arrow around the page and used the two hearts and stamped them onto smooth card. I inked around the edge of the stamp with Black Archival Ink and then colored them in with Color Pop Mini Inks.

I then used glue to stick the hearts down and once dry i added a mini stencil mask over the large ones and stamped the smaller ones with the Grunge Fun background stamp. I then took the little heart stamp and stamped it in between the larger hearts.

I used the Painted Sentiments stamps to add a couple of words

Soul of a Gypsy

Hello friends. 

Have you seen the new Mermaid Stamp that the Fabulous Susan K Weckesser created???
The Spirit of a Mermaid.

I absolutely love this new set. I stamped the mermaid on a piece of 110 lb white cardstock and colored her using Copic markers. 

I cut the image out carefully using a pair of detailed scissors. I stamped the sentiment from the same set on a piece of white cardstock and colored it with the same color of Copic's I used on the mermaid.
I found this piece of pattern paper that matched it perfectly. I had to add some glitter so I did. 

This was just a fun to make. I am going to be using this stamp so much. Thank you for stopping by today and checking out my post. Have a wonderful day friends.

Art Journal Fun

Hi everyone, Steph here and I've been creating in my Art Journal.  While I don't frequently work in my art journal, when I do, I find it so freeing to create whatever I want with no expectations. 

Today I've used the following stamp sets:
What's Up Gnomey?
A Little Bit Washi
At Ground Level
Fly Away
Going Wild
Tumbleweed Houses

I am also using the newest Colorbox® Color Pop Archival Dye Ink by Susan K. Weckesser - such amazing colors.

Since my journal is filled with kraft colored pages, I began by gessoing the pages.  I really wanted the colors on the pages to pop.  Once dry, I inked the pages with Fresh and Sky and Cocoa, then randomly painted the pages with assorted colors of paint.

While waiting for the pages to dry, I stamped and colored the images I wanted to use then fussy cut them.  Several stamps from A Little Bit Washi were stamped in several colors around the pages.  Leaves and mushrooms from What's Up Gnomey were stamped directly on the pages.  Flowers from At Ground Level were stamped on the pages and then colored using a water brush. A fussy cut cloud was added and the tiny leaves from What's Up Gnomey were used as raindrops.

I know Mr. Fox seems to have been added for no apparent reason, but he was just too cute to leave out, and there is no right or wrong way to create your art journal pages right?

Art Journal Play with Lynne Mizera

Hello Everyone - Lynne here today to share another of my art journal pages with you.  This month Susan Weckesser encouraged us to see our world with new eyes with a focus on our own backyards and our gardens... which resonated with me on such a deep level as I am spending the first year in our new home, one that we hope to be in until we are ready to move into assisted living (in about 30 years - we Hope!).  So here is the two-page spread I created:

The inspiration for this came from the quote I used which really did say it perfectly for me... 

I have been fortunate to have been able to travel to many wonderful places in our beautiful world, making Art and friends along the way, but at the end of each "journey nto the World" I Always Come Home.

And to me My Home is still the place I love the most in this World!
