At this time of year, during the Christmas love Campaign, I {LOVE} it when here at Susan K. Weckesser Inc. we have guests on the blog. It is a segment that I like to call ‘Designer Chat’ and I ask a few designers in the arts, crafts, and scrapbooking industry if they could share what Christmas Love & Charity means to them. I also ask if they can share some of their awesome talents!
To kick-off the 2013-2014 Designer Chat we have on the blog one of the coolest, crafty ladies ever…Amy Anderson. I met her a couple of years ago and not only does she do super neat things with Mod Podge, but she truly has a heart of gold. I was so excited when Amy said that she would be part of the Christmas Love Campaign’s Designer Chat.
I would like to introduce you to… Amy Anderson.Hello! I’m Amy Anderson and I blog at Mod Podge Rocks, Washi Tape Crafts and DIY Candy. If you are wondering if I keep busy, the answer is yes! I love blogging and it’s my job now. I’m very grateful to have this opportunity to do it full time.
I’m also thankful for my pets. I’m a big supporter of rescuing animals, and it’s something I think about all the time – but particularly during the holidays. I can’t imagine a precious animal sitting outside in cold temperatures. My Christmas charity of choice during the holidays is a local animal rescue agency, and if you are trying to find ways to help animals during the holidays, I recommend visiting the Humane Society site. There are even some ways that you can help just by taking action online. And of course, you can always rescue a pet for the holidays! My rescue pets are awesome . . . I couldn’t imagine the holidays without them.
In addition to supporting charities, I also love crafting during the holidays. It was a huge part of my growing up – my mom always busted out all of the craft supplies and let us get wild like no other time of year. One thing I have always enjoyed making is Christmas ornaments. For a few reasons:
-they are easy
-you can use your stash materials
-they are quick to make
-you can give them as gifts!
One thing I really loved about making ornaments when I was little (besides the making) was pulling them out of the boxes the years afterwards and remembering. It was a great opportunity for my family to talk about our holiday memories: why we thought of making a particular ornament, the images we used . . . so many things. My parents always had a great tree full of handmade ornaments. It was pretty awesome!
To get you inspired for the holiday season, I wanted to share some handmade ornaments from my site Mod Podge Rocks. If you have never made an ornament before, decoupage is a great place to start. These five ornaments are so easy to make and use some different techniques!
1. Recycled gift box ornaments (http://modpodgerocksblog.com/2011/12/recycled-gift-box-ornaments-thanks-to.html)

I really hope you have a great holiday season and take the time to participate in some charity and crafting with family. Come visit me at any of my blogs during the holidays for some great craft ideas, or just to say hello. Thank you for having me Susan – and see all of you soon.
