Home is Where You Plant Your Flower Seeds...

Hello Everyone!  Lynne here today with my second project for the month of July where our theme for the month is Home Sweet Home, and homes and where we live have been in my mind a lot lately as my hubby and I moved across provinces earlier this year into what we are calling our "Forever Home" as we prepare for retirement.  And this week my daughter and her family have finally been able to return to their home in Fort McMurray, Alberta, 86 days after the mandatory evacuation of their city due to an out-of-control wild fire.  So like I said, "What Does Home Mean to Me?" has been a question in my mind a LOT lately.  But it was reading this quote from the Susan Weckesser's What's UP Gnomey stamp set that finally put it all in perspective for me:

"A Home Is Where You Plant Your Flower Seeds"

And with those words echoing in my head as I sat at my work desk looking out at my beautiful new garden, I created this wee diorama that for me says it better than words ever could.

I used the Susan K. Weckesser Live in Color Paper Collection and my new Tim  Holtz Sizzix House Dies #660992 and #661196 to create the house,

and then I stamped and colored and fussy cut the Susan Weckesser/Unity stamp sets Create Your Day and Grandma's Needlepoint and used these to embellish and decorate my wee home.

Then I went a bit crazy adding anything and everything to my Garden... Who KNEW you could have this much fun with a glue gun? (smile).

The Ornament of a House

Deb here with my first post as a member of Susan's Creative Team. I am thrilled beyond words to be here and work with all of my talented team-mates. For July, we are honoring HOME SWEET HOME and all that it means to us. A lovely Ralph Waldo Emerson quote says "The ornament of a house is the friends who frequent it". As I have been getting to know Susan and her team, I felt like I was home, surrounded by friends. Susan has some house stamps that went perfectly with our theme so I decided to create a bulletin board to keep me on track with my team posts. I used a vinyl chalkboard bulletin board that I have been hoarding and adhered it to the closet door in my studio. 

I started off by stamping several of Susan's house designs using my new favorite ink--Susan's Colorbox Color Pop Archival Dye Ink in Mystery. I used paper from my scrap drawer as well as some adhesive-backed fabric scraps for the roofs. I then fussy-cut the houses and colored them in with an assortment of  Faber-Castell PITT Artist pens and Tim Holtz Distress markers.

Another technique that I often use is to apply ink to an acrylic block, then color using my Water-brush pens. For the door and  roof of one house, I used the Color Pop Premium Dye Ink in Sky. And to add some texture, I used a piece of ribbon over a window for a curtain. The fence is paper-pieced with some  Simple Stories paper.

The Painted Sentiments stamp set by Susan has some of my favorite words in it.I chose Create, Hope & Inspire to add to my board. Perfect words as I begin my journey with my new team. They were stamped in Colorbox Color Pop inks - Kiss, Sky and Cocoa. Tim Holtz Distress Glitters  of Tumbled Glass, Spiced Marmalade and Seedless Preserves were used to highlight the words. Clouds were punched out of Susan's Bouquet paper and the words were stamped on Live in Color. The circles were punched from Color Burst paper and I added some DoubleClick Skittles in their centers for added dimension. Ranger Distress Stickles Glitter Glue in Icicle and Peacock added a fun touch to the house..

A few other creative touches : a sequin as a doorknob, white polka-dots made using my Signo Uni-ball White Gel Pen, and scrap adhesive-backed fabric paper-pieced for the roofs.

I absolutely LOVE to color and paper-piece and these houses are the coolest stamps to color !! Flowers were cut from Susan's paper - Live in Color. Sequins were again added at the flower centers.

I had so much fun making this project -- my first one with Susan's fabulous Creative Team !! Home Sweet Home: Be Amazing Bunting

                                                                   Hi all

The theme on the blog this month  is Home Sweet Home so i have made an inspiring bunting using the Bunny Hugs Stamp Set and a MDF Bunting. I love to alter things for the home so i really enjoyed this months theme.

I started off by giving each piece of bunting three coats of paint to get a nice even amount of color. I alternated the colors so that i did not get two the same together. I then painted the MDF alphabet in black paint.

I then stamped around the edges of each piece with the little stamps that come with the Bunny Hugs Stamp Set. I used a mixture of Black,Sky and Kiss Color :Pop Minis.

I also stamped some of the the little stamps onto smooth card and colored them in with the color pop minis and cut them out. 

I finished them off by adding a few gems and resin flowers.

Watercolored Floral Card

Hi everyone, Steph here today with my first post as part of the Susan K. Weckesser Design Team.  I am using the amazing What's Up Gnomey? stamp set.  This set of 15 stamps has lots of possibilities.  And I am also using the newest Colorbox® Color Pop Archival Dye Ink by Susan K. Weckesser - such amazing colors!

I started by stamping 3 ink colors on a stamp block - Kiss, Sky and Fresh.

Next, I spritzed the block with a little water.  I wanted to create a water color effect.  Moving the block allows the inks to run and co-mingle.

I placed white cardstock on top of the block and lightly rubbed to pick up the colors.

 

And look at my result.

 

I matted the white panel with red cardstock.  Next I stamped a flower on each color and then several butterflies across the top using Mystery ink.

 

 

To finish I added a stamped sentiment across the bottom, adding it to the card with foam adhesives for dimension.

Hello friends. Larissa here today and I have to say I am so happy to be back for another term with my friend. Susan is one of the sweetest people I know.

Today I created a card for you and used a few different stamp sets.

First off I took a piece of white cardstock I had cut to 5 1/4 x 5 1/4. I laid it in my MISIT and placed the stamps where I wanted them. I used Simon Says Stamp Black Intense ink to stamp them on the cardstock.

After stamping them on the cardstock I used a couple different mediums to color the images. 

First off I used Colorbox® Color Pop Premium Dye Ink By Susan K. Weckesser in Fresh and Ice I stamped the banner and then used them for watercoloring.

I then colored the images with Copic markers. Except for the Gnomes outfit I paper pieced with a piece of yellow polka dot pattern paper from Lawn Fawn. 

 And here is the final card.

A SWEET Home Decore Idea Using Sharpie Markers...

Happy Daaaay Everyone!  Lynne here today sharing my first project for the new Susan K. Weckesser Creative Team.  I am so honoured to be a member of the 2016-17 team and super excited to share my latest creation, which is something a little bit outside of my usual offerings.

This July we are celebrating our Homes so I decided to alter this canvas wall hanging I have been saving (hoarding?) for several years with the intention of hanging it in a corner of my new studio space where I like to sit and use my paints, draw and color. 

Now just so you know, I don't usually "DO" home decor items. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to decorate my home but with stuff other people have made, because my feeble attempts at making my own usually fail Big Time (grin).

But because this project was so simple and required no special skills or power tools, just some  ink, some stamps, my Sharpie markers and Ranger Stickles and Liquid Pearls... I think it turned out Beauuuutifully... Smile.

I used several of the Susan K. Weckesser Unity Stamp sets to create this super sweet, colorful and happy hanging,  (all listed below) and I have created a photo tutorial HERE on my blog if you are interested in seeing the entire process in more detail.  I do hope you like what I created for my first project for this new term and that it inspires you to create something of your own to honour your "Home Sweet Home".
