My Little Boxes Full Of Happy - By Lynne Mizera

Hello and Happy Halloween everyone!  Today for my second mixed media project for the Creative Team I thought I would share this little idea that has been germinating in my brain for about two years now ... I am calling these My Little Boxes of Happy!

The size of an old-fashioned match box, the outside is already delightful... but when you slide back the cover a complete three-dimensional scene is revealed that just makes you smile... hence My Little Boxes of Happy

I used the Tim Holtz Matchbox die; Sizzix BigzL #659447 and Susan Weckesser's lovely paper to create my matchboxes.  Susan's paper worked like a dream because it is so much heavier than regular card stock.

The Susan K. Weckesser/Unity Stamp sets I used are the perfect size for creating these tiny 1.75"x2.25" diorama's which, when coloured in and covered in Ranger's Stickles and Close To My Heart's Liquid Glass, look like wee jewels.  A delightful little surprise and so gift-worthy, don't you think?

Tumbleweed House Cards

Hi everyone, do you believe we are already in September?  Steph here today and I've created a couple of cards using Tumbleweed Houses.  This sweet set is perfect to celebrate friends and family who are moving or perhaps settling into their own homes.

Using kraft cardstock, I chose the LiveLoveCreate paper for the background then added Spellbinders die cuts to hold my sweet houses.  I inked the edges of the die cuts with Color Pop Metallic ink in Shimmer.

I stamped the houses with Color Pop Mystery Ink then colored them with Copic Markers.  I fussy cut them for the cards.

The houses in this set as so sweet, you could mix and match them, stamp them together or stamp them individually.  I used the sentiment from Grandma's Needlepoint, stamping it in Color Pop Kiss Ink.

I added some clay elements using products from Makin's Clay as accent pieces.  The assorted sized clouds were the perfect touch above the houses as were the tiny flowers.

Grandma's Needlepoint Garden

Deb here with my last post for August - another Art Journal page. I chose to use the Susan K Weckesser stamp set Grandma's Needlepoint since it has always been one of my favorites. I embroidered as a child and then as a teenager. I was quite the hippie and embroidered all over my blue jeans !! My mother and her mother were both excellent seamstresses, so this set also reminds me of them.

To start the page, I swiped inks onto an acrylic block - Ice and Fresh, both from Susan's collection of Clearsnap Colorbox Color POP ink pads. I then applied the inks to my journal page using an ink blending tool and a stencil. The  Tim Holtz Doily stencil has a pattern reminiscent of the doilies on the arms of the chairs at my parent's and grandparent's houses.

The silver pattern on the Left side of the page was created with the Doodle stencil by Susan and modeling paste by Art-C. Inside each circle are flowers that I stamped, colored and fussy-cut. They are from Journal Doodles With A Heart and each are popped up with a dimensional. They are just SO cute !!

At the upper and lower corners of the Right side, I used some rub-ons that I have had for many years by  Fancy Pants Designs. The images of the girl, birds, butterflies and sewing stitches were all stamped in Mystery / Colorbox Color POP ink and colored with a variety of Distress Markers, Stabilos and Stampin' Up markers.

For the tag, I used an American Crafts Newspaper Tag and my old friend, Mod Podge / Gloss . I printed the words to the Monet quote, cut them out, then adhered them to the tag with a few coats of Mod Podge. I placed the tag on the journal page with Dimensionals. I hope that you like my last post for August. Art Journaling is out of my comfort zone but I really had fun creating this page. Stay tuned for a new theme in September from Susan's team !!

Hello Everyone - Lynne here today to share another of my art journal pages with you.  This month Susan Weckesser encouraged us to see our world with new eyes with a focus on our own backyards and our gardens... which resonated with me on such a deep level as I am spending the first year in our new home, one that we hope to be in until we are ready to move into assisted living (in about 30 years - we Hope!).  So here is the two-page spread I created:

The inspiration for this came from the quote I used which really did say it perfectly for me... 

I have been fortunate to have been able to travel to many wonderful places in our beautiful world, making Art and friends along the way, but at the end of each "journey nto the World" I Always Come Home.

And to me My Home is still the place I love the most in this World!

Grandma's NeedlePoint

Grandma's Needlepoint Bookmark Tags

Hello friends. Larissa here with some cute bookmark tags I made using

Grandma's Needlepoint Stamp Set. 

I used some precut tags I had in my stash and stamped each of the images and sentiments on the different tags with Colorbox Color Pop Archival Dye Ink by Susan K Weckesser. 

I colored in each image using Prismacolor Pencils blending the color with OMS.

I kept the tags flat and didn't add a bunch of bulk since I would be using them as bookmarks. I left them clean and simple. I really love this stamp set. Reminds me of cards I use to get from my grandparents when I was growing up.

Home is Where You Plant Your Flower Seeds...

Hello Everyone!  Lynne here today with my second project for the month of July where our theme for the month is Home Sweet Home, and homes and where we live have been in my mind a lot lately as my hubby and I moved across provinces earlier this year into what we are calling our "Forever Home" as we prepare for retirement.  And this week my daughter and her family have finally been able to return to their home in Fort McMurray, Alberta, 86 days after the mandatory evacuation of their city due to an out-of-control wild fire.  So like I said, "What Does Home Mean to Me?" has been a question in my mind a LOT lately.  But it was reading this quote from the Susan Weckesser's What's UP Gnomey stamp set that finally put it all in perspective for me:

"A Home Is Where You Plant Your Flower Seeds"

And with those words echoing in my head as I sat at my work desk looking out at my beautiful new garden, I created this wee diorama that for me says it better than words ever could.

I used the Susan K. Weckesser Live in Color Paper Collection and my new Tim  Holtz Sizzix House Dies #660992 and #661196 to create the house,

and then I stamped and colored and fussy cut the Susan Weckesser/Unity stamp sets Create Your Day and Grandma's Needlepoint and used these to embellish and decorate my wee home.

Then I went a bit crazy adding anything and everything to my Garden... Who KNEW you could have this much fun with a glue gun? (smile).
