Tend To Your Soul

I love writing letters and postcards. Snail mail has always been a big part of my life by keeping me in touch with friends near and far, especially before the days of e-mail. Even now, I don't think e-mail can come close to the feeling of holding a letter in your hands and anticipating what is inside the envelope.

I have been fortunate to become involved in the Love Notes Postcard Project , started by Jennifer Belthoff. I learned about it through their Love Notes Facebook Page . It is hosted quarterly and each Sunday for 3 weeks, you are sent a prompt. You then write a postcard to your assigned partner. I hope that you will check out the information for this project and join us as we make some amazing connections.

One of the prompts this Round was " I invite you to tend to your soul ". Instead of making or writing out a postcard, I decided to make a set of tags to remind my partners ( I had 2 this Round ) of ways to take care of themselves.  I used my stash of tags from FLOW magazine along with some perfect stamps by Susan K Weckesser. The wooden tags and Butterfly tags were purchased at Michaels on clearance. I tied them together with some colorful twine. The Special Delivery stamp is by Hero Arts and the  Heart Made stamp is by Rubber Moon.

I believe it is so important to take care of ourselves, tend to our souls. We work, have families, take care of so many things.Yet, I think that sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves. Read a book, take a nap, meet a friend for coffee. Just do nothing !! Write a letter or postcard to a friend. Hang out at the bookstore. I just that did yesterday and it was a fabulous way to  re-charge my batteries after a long stretch at work. I know that being creative tends to my soul. And sharing in my creativity hopefully tends to yours too !!

I Care Mixed Media Tag

Hi all

I have a mixed media tag using the Clearsnap Color Pop Mini Inks and Susan K Weckesser Unity Co Branded stamps

I started off by stamping over a white tag with In Circle Me background stamp and then i mixed the white and red inks to make a salmon pink. I painted this on to the background and left the circles blank for now.

I colored in the circles with Ice Blue and mixed Navy Blue and Red together to make purple.

I painted up the MDF mask using DecoArt Fluid Acrylics Magenta and glued it to the tag before coloring in two hearts from the Grunge Hearts stamp set.

I then dribbled some of the magenta paint over the paper flowers which i inked with the colour pop inks. I miked the inks with water and painted them. I used the sentiment from the Bunny Hugs stamp set

There is Always HOPE

October is Mixed Media month  here at { My Sweet Earth }..For this card, I used a piece of Susan's Live in Color paper as the background and her Doodle stencil to create the scallop design.. Colorbox Color Pop Premium Dye Inks in Ice and Kiss  were just swiped over the stencil that was  placed on top of the background paper. Tiny mushrooms from the Bunny Hugs were stamped, then punched out and placed in the scallops. A sentiment and flower from Journal Doodles With a Heart was stamped on cardstock then colored with a combination of Colorbox Color Pop inks in Kiss, Fresh and Ice and Clearsnap Smooch in Siren and Gold Lame'. I popped up the sentiment onto the background paper and also the stenciled background paper to the card base. A faux pearl was added to the flower center.

These inks really lend themselves to a variety of techniques. I used the Colorbox Color Pop Dye inks in Kiss and Mystery directly on the stamps for the sentiment and flower. They can also be swiped   across an acrylic block and applied with a waterbrush, which is how I colored the flower and mushrooms.. And I also applied them directly to paper through a stencil.

I hope this card will encourage you to use your inks in "different" ways. The colors are so vibrant. And combined with some fabulous stamps by Susan K Weckesser, your projects will be absolutely amazing !!

Home Sweet Home: Be Amazing Bunting

                                                                   Hi all

The theme on the blog this month  is Home Sweet Home so i have made an inspiring bunting using the Bunny Hugs Stamp Set and a MDF Bunting. I love to alter things for the home so i really enjoyed this months theme.

I started off by giving each piece of bunting three coats of paint to get a nice even amount of color. I alternated the colors so that i did not get two the same together. I then painted the MDF alphabet in black paint.

I then stamped around the edges of each piece with the little stamps that come with the Bunny Hugs Stamp Set. I used a mixture of Black,Sky and Kiss Color :Pop Minis.

I also stamped some of the the little stamps onto smooth card and colored them in with the color pop minis and cut them out.

I finished them off by adding a few gems and resin flowers.

Introducing the Clearsnap Color Pop Minis with Susan K Weckesser Co Branded Unity Stamps

Hi all Katie here xx

I have two exciting pieces of news to share the first being that i am returning to Susan's creative team and the second is a brand new product release designed for all those who love mixed media and colouring. The new inks once dry will take anything you throw at them inks, watercolours, paints the lot. The other thing you can do is stamp them onto smooth card and blend in the ink like watercolour inks. You can win a set by visiting Susan's blog here http://mysweetearth.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/brand-new-color-pop-minis.html?m=1

There are 8 colors available which you can see below

I used the In Circle Me stamp set on the background and coloured the circles in with Prima Oil Pastels.

I used the A Little Bit Washi to create the ribbons and the Bunny Hugs stamp set for the bunny and sentiment.

The Card was made using an A6 card blank which i stamped over using two colors of the Color  Pop Mini inks Fresh and Ice Blue. I used a water pen to blend the ink into the cards background.

All the ink colors can be mixed with water and used as a paint even the Shimmer ink with blend.

I colored the kite in using the Color Pop Minis inks which i dabbed onto an acrylic block and blended with a water pen.

I will be back later with a mini video

Mixed Media: Angels are Near Layout

Hi all!, Katie here
I am up on the blog with a new mixed media layout to share. They say that if you find feathers in an unexpected place then it is your Guardian Angel trying to get your attention.I wanted to create a layout that was like a journal page so i sorted out a photo that was more suited for this style of project.

I used

I started off the page by applying DecoArt Media White Crackle Paint over the page using the DecoArt Americana Distressed Harlequin Stencil. I dabbed Chocolate ink over the top and then inked up the In Circle Me background stamp and stamped it around the edges and corners of the page.

I added paper layers which i cut out of the Dovecraft Value Range Vintage Rose pad. I used die-cuts and punches to create the shaped edges and layered them up with 3d Foam Tape.

I used the little heart stamp from the Bunny Hugs Stamp Set to decorate the mini banner. I then used the little star and stamped that around the page.

Use alphabet stamps to create long journal style titles

I finished the layout off with white feathers and embellishments.

Thank you for visiting

Smile

Hello friends. Today I have a super fun creation for you. I created this door hanger using two of Susan K Weckesser newest stamps.

I used:

I painted 2 coats of paint on the door hanger. While it was drying I stamped all the images on a piece of white cardstock and colored them using my Copic markers.
I cut each image out using a pair of detail scissors.

I then adhered the images on the door hanger and attached a bow to the top.

I hope you enjoyed my post today.

Have a wonderful day.
