Grandma's Needlepoint Garden

Deb here with my last post for August - another Art Journal page. I chose to use the Susan K Weckesser stamp set Grandma's Needlepoint since it has always been one of my favorites. I embroidered as a child and then as a teenager. I was quite the hippie and embroidered all over my blue jeans !! My mother and her mother were both excellent seamstresses, so this set also reminds me of them.

To start the page, I swiped inks onto an acrylic block - Ice and Fresh, both from Susan's collection of Clearsnap Colorbox Color POP ink pads. I then applied the inks to my journal page using an ink blending tool and a stencil. The  Tim Holtz Doily stencil has a pattern reminiscent of the doilies on the arms of the chairs at my parent's and grandparent's houses.

The silver pattern on the Left side of the page was created with the Doodle stencil by Susan and modeling paste by Art-C. Inside each circle are flowers that I stamped, colored and fussy-cut. They are from Journal Doodles With A Heart and each are popped up with a dimensional. They are just SO cute !!

At the upper and lower corners of the Right side, I used some rub-ons that I have had for many years by  Fancy Pants Designs. The images of the girl, birds, butterflies and sewing stitches were all stamped in Mystery / Colorbox Color POP ink and colored with a variety of Distress Markers, Stabilos and Stampin' Up markers.

For the tag, I used an American Crafts Newspaper Tag and my old friend, Mod Podge / Gloss . I printed the words to the Monet quote, cut them out, then adhered them to the tag with a few coats of Mod Podge. I placed the tag on the journal page with Dimensionals. Today I am popping in to share a quick card design I made using Susan K Weckesser and The Crafter's Companion products.

Some of the stencils from TCW I used were : pod fragments,Beaded Curtain, and Harlequin.

 I used Susan K Weckesser paper as a background and inked and distressed with ink.

 Of course I had to add some texture with molding paste and stencil.

 Most of the papers in the background were in my supplies and the ribbon and twine is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Pretty Home Card

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today with a card using tons of fun products.

The card is created from Core-dinations Neutrals Cardstock and lightly sanded about the edges.  A second layer of black cardstock was cut slightly smaller and also sanded.  Using Art Anthology's Bone paint with The Crafter's Workshop stencil -  North Star.  I created the background.

Next I tore some green Core-dinations Spotted Cardstock and added 2 rows to the bottom of the panel to simulate some grass.

I stamped the house from Unity's Little Haven stamp set with black ink on White Core-dinations Cardstock and added some color with Clearsnap Smooch Ink.  To create the roof line, I used The Crafter's Workshop Brick Stencil with light brown ink.  I fussy cut the house and added it to the card.  "home" was also stamped and inked, and added to the card with foam adhesives for dimension.

Live To Create, Create To Live Art Mixed Media

Hello friends!  It's Lee-Anne here today and I would like to share a simple mixed media layout that I created with Susan K. Weckesser's beautiful Live In Color Collection.

 I love color and Susan's Live In Color Collection is so pretty and it makes me hope for Spring.  It's so easy to create mixed media art with because it already looks that way.

For this piece this is the process I used to create this layout:

I took a 12X12 piece of white card stock.
I used some Tim Holtz Distress Paints and painted the sky and grass.  Then I used some Ranger Paint Dabbers to paint the sun and clouds.
Next I fussy cut the house and title out of Susan's Live In Color Paper Collection.
I then took Susan's stencil and some modelling paste and went around the edge of the background and then I doodled and doodled with a black archival pen.
For the flowers I "painted" with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mists
and then I took a piece of Crack Tape/drywall tape and "stencilled" with some modelling paste in the clouds to give them more dimension and "fluffiness".
The mountains are nearby so  I thought I would make it realistic and I used Susan's stencil and modelling paste to create some "peaks".
Finally I adhered some sequins to give more texture and dimension and then my journaling which I cut from Susan's papers.

Let's get "Tickled Pink!"

Hello Creative Friends!

Keri Here...I'm so excited to share my Mixed Media Canvas called "Tickled Pink."

I wanted to do something little different with Susan's In Circle Me stamp for Unity Stamp Company. 

So I decided to try stamping it into an almost dry layer of modeling paste I had spread along the edge of my canvas. Here is a close-up of the "naked" boarder:

The key to making this technique work to do allow your modeling paste to dry (naturally or using a heat gun) until it is no longer sticky anymore, but still move able. Work in small areas and clean your stamp as soon as you are done (Modeling paste is a BUGGER to get off once it's dry!)
