Hello Friends! JJ here again. Today, I'm sharing a scrapbook layout featuring mixed media techniques:
After covering my background with gesso, I added border strips with Susan's stencil and some texture paste:
I added a little colour to the background with Inktense blocks and blended with gesso. Then I added some stamping, including the banner from "Create Your Day", and some texture stamping with a stamp from the ABC.123.Washi set.
I wanted a little more bright colour, so I spritzed some Dylusions spray through a Want 2 Scrap stencil.
You can also spot stamps from In-Circle-Me, and Insta-Cute in these detail shots.
Thank you for visiting!

"Dreaming of Spring" - mixed media on canvas
Hello friends - long time no see! This is JJ Sobey here, returning for a visit with you this month. I was delighted to find that this month's theme was mixed media, as I love playing with different products and seeing how they work together.
My project started out as just a piece of raw canvas, to which I added stamps from the "At Ground Level" set. Then I stitched over many of the lines with my sewing machine:
I added clouds from the "Create Your Day" stamp set, and some colour using Inktense pencils & water. I also stamped some background texture using a stamp from the "Abc-123-Washi" set, and the "In Circle Me" stamp.
I decided the colours didn't 'pop' as much as I would like, so I added india inks, and a little more Inktense (but using the blocks this time):
The final steps were adding a few touches of colour with Smooch inks:
and a bit more sewing (and fraying the edges):
Here's a close-up of some of the stitching:

And the final project, again. I was originally planning to put this on a card, but my daughter has laid claim to it, and it will be mounted in a shadowbox for her bedroom, instead. :)

"Wake Me Up When September Ends" - art journal
Hello friends! JJ here again to share an art journal page with you, featuring Susan's fantastic "Autumn Grunge" stamp set.
I started by stamping the various leaf stamps using different shades of chalk ink, as well as clear ink. Then I embossed with clear embossing powder - which created a perfect resist for all the sprays I misted over top.
When the coloured sprays (Dylusions) were completely dry, I used Susan's borders stencil, and misted with white Dylusions spray, creating a ghosted effect:
I finished up with a stamped sentiment (and a good nap, ha ha!).
Thank you for visiting!

"1st Day Back" scrapbook layout, featuring Want2Scrap
Hello friends! I'm happy to be sharing this layout with you today. Susan K Weckesser and Want2Scrap are a great match, making this project come together in a fun way.
I started off by stamping leaves from the "Autumn Grunge" set, and then misting with Dylusions sprays in fall colours, and adding a few pieces of patterned paper. For some of the misting, I used one of Want2Scrap's stencils.
I adore gears, so I was delighted to get to work with some of Want2Scrap's chipboard ones. I primed them with gesso, painted them with glimmermist, and then added glossy accents for a bit of shine.
I gave a similar treatment to this chipboard tree, and then added a few self-adhesive pearls.
Thank you for visiting!

"Making Faces" - scrapbook page with a little paint, stenciling, and stamps
Hello Friends! JJ here again, to share a scrapbook layout with you:
I started out by stenciling with white paint, using Susan's borders stencil. Just enough to create a little extra movement in the background (because Susan's gorgeous papers already have plenty of depth!) I die cut the green paper in a whimsical shape, just for fun.
Then I added a few more pieces of paper, doodled some stitches, and added stamped clouds, using the "Create Your Day" stamp set. (I admit, the cloud is a favorite of mine).
The "Say Cheese" sentiment is from the "Insta-cute" stamp set, and I stamped it on a scrap of Susan's papers, ensuring that it would match perfectly with the rest of the layout.
A few little embellishments glued down with Helmar 450, and I was ready to go.
Thanks for visiting!

Happy Birthday - a whimsical card for someone special
Hello friends! JJ here today, to share a birthday card with you. The one type of card that I use the most, has got to be birthday cards - I never seem to have enough in my stash, and Susan's whimsical papers are just perfect for a happy occasion.
I started off with a few layers of papers, and added some embossed cardstock for additional texture.
I fussy cut a few shapes from one of the papers, and paired them with a die-cut shape (a great way to use up smaller scraps - these papers die-cut well).
I adhered the fussy-cut shapes and sentiment with foam adhesive, and finished off with a few jewels, for a little sparkle.
Thank you for visiting!

Come Sail Away - Art journal page
Hello friends! JJ here today, to share an art journal page with you.
For this page, I combined Susan's whimsical stamps with Pan Pastels for a soft looking page. I started with the boat from the Sail Away stamp set. (Colouring inside the lines is not always required) :) The word "Hope" is from the Painted Sentiments stamp set, and was my cue for how the rest of the text would flow.
I keep coming back to these little clouds from the Create Your Day stamp set. They just make me happy. Once all the colour was added with Pan Pastel, I sealed it with a fixative, and used Faber-Castell PITT pens for the lettering.
Supplies used:
Create Your Day stamp set
Sail Away stamp set
Painted Sentiments stamp set
Thanks so much for visiting!

The Fragrance of Flowers - art journal page
Hello Friends! JJ here today, to share an art journal page with you. Every spring, when the lilacs bloom, the fragrance brings me right back to when I would play near my grandmother's lilac bushes. The smell always reminds me of her.
First I created my background with acrylic paint. The next step was stamping and embossing in white, using the flowers from the Create Your Day stamp set, and film strip and camera from the Insta-Cute set.
I then added some Smooch inks to highlight some of the stamps.
I finished off the page with my journaling, using a white gel pen and white india ink.
Is there a fragrance that triggers such memories for you? Feel free to leave a comment and tell us about it!

"Dishwasher" - a scrapbook page for Mixed Media Magic Week
This week, our Susan K Weckesser team is partnering up for fun, color, and inspiration with Clearsnap, so make sure you check out both sites all week. And don’t forget to connect with our Facebook pages, too:
Hello Friends! JJ here today, with my contribution to this fun cross-promotion.
Then I misted with Smooch Spritz. The embossed images acted as a resist. (Film strip stamp is from the Insta-cute set, as is the polaroid frame, stamped on Susan's papers.)
I finished off the bottom corner with a few flower stamps from the Create Your Day set. I embossed the images, and then coloured them in with Smooch accent inks.
Thanks for visiting!

If it doesn't Challenge you... (art journal page)
Hello friends! JJ here today, to share an art journal page, featuring Susan's awesome "Create Your Day" stamp set.
I used Faber-Castell Gelatos on all the stamps, misting with water before stamping. I love the watery effect this gave to the stamped images - quite different from a stamp pad!
I then rubbed a little more colour around the background with my finger tips and added my text (with rub-ons).
Couldn't you imagine using this stamp set to create a little scene on a card, too?
Thanks for visiting today!
