Create to Live Journal Page

Good morning everyone! Larissa here with you today to share my journal page.

Today I decided to do a two page journal entry instead of just one.

I started by taking some modeling paste and layering it in different areas

of the pages using a couple of different stencils from The Crafter's Workshop.

Once that dried I sprayed two different colors of spray ink on the top and bottom of the page.

I then stamped my favorite Gnome on a piece of white 110 lb card stock and colored him using 

my Copic markers.

I added a couple pieces of pattern paper to each page. I then stamped some Washi Tape right over the top of the spray ink.

I love this saying and had to add to my page. 

After coloring my little Gnome I decided to draw some white stars on him. 

I cut him out and adhered him to the journal page with some liquid adhesive.

I decided to do some doodling around both pages.

Eat, Drink, Breathe, Live in Color

 Hi! This is Valerie Reyes again, here to share a second project with you. This is another scrapbook title page.

I was inspired by one of Susan's patterned papers: Live in Color

I started by coloring in the phrase with Faber Castell Gelatos and a water brush. I fussy cut the phrase and started to build my page with layering and layout more like the style of my typical scrapbook pages than my first project for the My Sweet Earth blog. I used the b sides of Live, Love, Create and Color Burst on the page as well. I used gesso to tone down the pattern a bit to give myself a space to write, and made the ruffled pink paper using some crepe paper I had left over from a party.

I outlined the elements in black to give a little more definition to the title and the flower cut from the Live in Color paper.

I did make a bit of a mistake placing my words when I was writing.  Gesso to the rescue! A couple of layers and you can't even see the "in" above the word chaos.

Life is a beautiful thing

Hi! I'm Valerie Reyes.  I'm so excited to be here as a guest designer for April.  Susan's artwork is so lovely, it makes me smile just to look at.  It was 3 AM when I walked in my front door from a road trip to see my design team box. I did take a few minutes to get the kids in from the car and into bed before I opened my box, but not a moment longer.

It was a true act of self control not to start working before I finished my haul video (you can find it on my YouTube channel). I went to sleep dreaming about two patterned papers in particular: Live, Love, Create and Beautiful Daydreams.

I knew that charming green house belonged in the sunny afternoon, so I started there.  After cutting out the house, I popped it up on dimensional adhesive using the Beautiful Daydreams patterned paper as a background. I used Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink to add definition to some of the details in the background paper: stems of flowers, rays of the sun, edges of clouds. The next thing to go down was the stamped sentiment, "Let your heart sing." from the Sing Your Song stamp set.

Then, I wasn't quite sure what to do.  I knew that I wanted it to be either wall art or a title page for one of my scrapbooks, so I googled the phrase, "Let your heart sing."  and came up with a song by Katharine McPhee. I filled in the white space with stamps from Little Yellow Bicycle's Love Letters Collection. Here is the final page.

Mixed media art journal page - Journey

Hello crafty friends, Einat Kessler here with a new post! I love creating art journals and I always try to have a theme on my pages. This page was inspired by SKW little house stamp. It reminded me of those little houses you see from a high mountain or an airplane and that led me to think about what a journey it would be to climb all the way up.

I started with creating a blue background for the sky. I used two tones of blue Gelatos with a little water and applied them on the paper with a baby wipe. After it was dry I created the mountain with layers of tissue paper.

I added more texture with dimensional paint and stencils, both on the mountain and on the sky. I also drew a few white clouds with an oil pastel. I drew a winding path on the mountain as well.

Then I stamped the house a few times on a piece of white cardstock. I colored the houses with Gelatos and then cut them out. I added them to my page with a little gel medium. Finally I cut an image of me from an old photo and glued it to the top of the mountain. I added the quote with some stamps and black permanent ink.

It's fun and inspire to art journal. You should try it!

Let your spirit shine through

Hello crafty friends! Einat Kessler here with a new art journal page to inspire you. The reason I love art journaling is because there are no limits...there is no photo to dictate the mood of the page, or the colors and embellishments. In art journaling you can pour your heart out on the paper...
This page is all about shining through the darkness.

I started with coloring my page with dark color sprays. Then I added another layer of dark color with a dark brown Gelatos. Finally to complete the dark background I added black stamping.

I created tares in the paper and glued it to the next page in the art journal. I mad sure I didn't apply glue near the tears so I can later tuck things under them.

I cut different sizes of colorful flowers from SKW patterned paper and tucked them under the tears. Then I added my journaling with a white pen. I also added doodling to enhance the contrast of the happy flowers and the journaling compared to the dark background.

Don't be scared to pour your heart on a paper it'll free your soul!

Come Sail Away - Art journal page

Hello friends! JJ here today, to share an art journal page with you.

For this page, I combined Susan's whimsical stamps with Pan Pastels for a soft looking page.   I started with the boat from the Sail Away stamp set.  (Colouring inside the lines is not always required)  :)    The word "Hope" is from the Painted Sentiments stamp set, and was my cue for how the rest of the text would flow.

I keep coming back to these little clouds from the Create Your Day stamp set.  They just make me happy.  Once all the colour was added with Pan Pastel, I sealed it with a fixative, and used Faber-Castell PITT pens for the lettering.

Hello friends! JJ here today, to share an art journal page, featuring Susan's awesome "Create Your Day" stamp set.

I used Faber-Castell Gelatos on all the stamps, misting with water before stamping.  I love the watery effect this gave to the stamped images - quite different from a stamp pad!

I then rubbed a little more colour around the background with my finger tips and added my text (with rub-ons).

Couldn't you imagine using this stamp set to create a little scene on a card, too?

Mixed media ~ Love Never Fails

Hey there bloggers Rita Barakat here with some ideas for mixed media!

Todays project starts with wood grain paper (DCWV Autumn Splendor Stack) 

& fabric (DCWV fabric adhesive stack).

 

I used a very wet a paint brush and gesso to flick and make 

paint splatters all over the wood grain paper.

Then I used Susan K Weckessers stencil from Crafters Workshop and

some modeling paste/

On top of the fabric I used various colors of Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft

Gelatos and Luminarte Radient Rain. I cut a heart shape out of the fabric.

I used Susan K. Weckkessers Splatter stamp from Unity.

 Once it's dry peel the backing and place it on the wood grain paper.

 The strips were left overs from the heart I cut.

 I colored the dried modeling paste and added all the embellishments.

The edges and splatter on acrylic heart (Clear Scraps) is gesso.
