Happy Friday! I hope that you are having an AWESOME day!
You know I LOVE creating crafts and art with recycled things so when a found a BIG piece of packing cardboard floating around the house…well, I had to CREATE something! Anything! So I got colourful and had a LOT of fun!!! Supplies: -BIG piece of brown recycled cardboard
- Claudine Hellmuth’s BLACK Gesso. (I am SO sad that her products are going out of sale. Not sure what I am going to do!)
- Maimeri -gloss medium ; These are a WONDERFUL art brand of mediums. WONDERFUL texture & quality!
- Faber-Castell –Gelatos
- Viva Decor – Inka-Gold
- Kuretake – ZIG White Opaque Writer & waterbrush
The video above shows you VERY quickly the steps I took. Yup, there’s an APP for that! *grin* Basically, I gave the cardboard a nice coat of black gesso and then using the Dutch Doobadoo Stencils and Maimeri -gloss medium, I created my background pattern. After applying the medium you can let it air dry or if you are impatient like me, you can use a heat gun. I just can’t wait to continue CREATING so I LOVE my heat gun! I then rubbed on Viva Decor – Inka-Gold over the stencilled areas. I then used Metalic PanPastels to rub onto the stencil areas to achieve a vintage look. I LOVE to mix products, mediums, and colors to see the effects that I can achieve! I then used PanPastels to create a velvety look to my leaves. Using Gelatos I lightly drew in my colors and then using my Kuretake watercolour brush I moved the colours around till I was happy. To create extra shadows and textures I used PanPastels and did everything from lightly applyling with a applicator to rub in to the creases with a rag. Using the Kuretake – ZIG White Opaque Writer I wrote my message, and outlined and highlighted the whole piece. SO easy and fun!
Aren’t the colours and textures so FAB!!!
Now I have a new happy piece of art for my dining room as I ‘patiently’ wait for spring!
