Waiting for Spring!

I really don't like the winter much - I spend a lot of time basically hibernating under a blanket waiting for the spring to come! So today I must apologise for my wholly unseasonable tag project!

I was thinking about something my teamie Joyce said when I created this - she was talking about how to use stamps creatively and so my 'flowers' were born. They are actually created using the leaf and feather stamps from Going Wild!

Here's how I made it:
1) Stamp the leaf in pink ink creating a radiating pattern with multiple images. Fill in the gaps between the leaf images with feathers stamped in yellow.

2) Use the star from Unicorns & Rainbows to create a flower centre in each cluster of stamped images.

3) Use a black pen to roughly outline the petals with scribbly lines. Also draw in some swirly curls and teeny circle dots, freehand.

4) Go over the swirls and dots with green watercolour.

5) Stamp the sentiment onto kraft card, cut out in a circle and edge with Susan's Snow ink from Colorbox. Mat the tag onto kraft card edged with the same white ink and finish with ribbon and gems.

Hope this makes you feel a little warmer today!!!

Paint your own rainbow art page with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my second  September post made for Susan K. Weckesser blog.
This time it's an art page made with lovely Susan's products and some recycling too.
So here is my small step by step tutorial:
1. Use texture paste  with stencil to make the bricks over the thick cardstock page that was covered with gesso.
Then I added some texture circles made over punched cardstock with the same texture paste  (not shown as a separate photo). Let all paste dry!

2. Use Susan's Clearsnap Color Pop mini inks to make the rainbow over the page. I also added Clearsnap yellow and purple inks to make the full range of rainbow colors over the page. The colors used here are Kiss, Sky, Fresh and Ice.
Add a line of each ink over the the top side of the page and mist with water over it.

3. From this step over I didn't take the step by step photos and there is only written steps for the rest of this page.
First I added all flowers from Israeli post stamps booklet. I love recycling and those rainbow colors from the booklets are so lovely!
Now  stamp the Unicorn image with Susan's Unity co-branded stamp (Unicorns and Rainbows set) and color it with Zig Real Brush watercolors. Hand cut the unicorn image and glue it over the page with Gel Medium.
Stamp the " paint your own rainbows" saying using the same stamp set all over the page using Susan's  mini ink in Mystery color. Add a stamped rainbow image over the page and leave it in a very light colors; this is just a small rainbow we are looking for after the rain.

Happy Thoughts Card

First of all - so sorry my post is late today! Things are a bit hectic at chez Katy. Anyway, I digress... This month we are making cards on Creative Team. Now I don't make an awful lot of cards generally but I do like to make ATCs - and they make great toppers for a clean card design.

To create my ATC I used white embossing paste through a stencil and added silver gilding wax over the top. I added a piece of doily, a strip of patterned paper, a scrap of crochet ribbon, some printed words and some buttons, all in tones of white and cream. I edged the ATC with black ink.

The Unicorn (from the Unicorn and Rainbows set) is lightly coloured in greys with a pop of pink added to make it stand out from the background.

To finish I matted to a card blank edged with black ink.

Hope your thoughts are happy ones today!

Katy x
