For the LOVE of Ribbon!!!

I am sure that you have noticed by now that I LOVE ribbon! There is something about it that makes me {SMILE} I love using it with my scrapbooking, my cards, my altered crafts, my mixed media, or really just about any thing around the home or my studio or my garden!

Because of the colors and the versatile nature of ribbon it makes it an easy medium to work with. You will find me even decorating BIRD HOUSES  with it!

Ribbon can also be sealed on and decoupaged to create unique effects like the effect I created with my vintage brooch that you can see above. So easy and so much fun!

It is also fun to add a bit of ribbon to a card or a scrapbook layout for a splash or color or a bit of whimsy!

Children & teens can also make up quick bows and fashion accessories. I LOVE to do this too!!! My girlies and I love to make up wristlets out of ribbon all the time!

Recycled crafts can look really AWESOME with a little bit of ribbon on them. Take a look at this recycled rice bag that I painted up and adorned with some ribbon. I will be teaching this online class really soon at CraftArtEdu.I also used Shimmerz paints and Kuretake on this project.

[QUICK PROJECT]:
Those canvas flowers are so cute and here is a quick way that you can decorate them with ribbon.

                   1.
You need 1 ft. of ribbon, 1ft. of a different & slightly larger ribbon, a canvas flower, 1 button , good glue like Helmar 450 Quick Dry adhesive.
                      2.

   Put a dab of glue on the back of the button and wait for a moment. Then start to stick the ribbon on the button in a circular, accordion motion. If you are using lace, you shouldn't need anymore glue.

                    3.
Put a dab of glue in the center of the canvas flower and  adhere the button with ribbon on. Hold for a second.
                    4.
  Flip the canvas flower over and glue a slightly larger piece of ribbon on.
        5.
Enjoy your new ribbon adorned canvas flower! You can use it on crafts, wearable art, sewing, mixed media…..anything!

There are many places where you can find some wonderful selections of ribbon, like May Arts. So find some ribbon today….and put a {SMILE} on your face!!!!!

Crafting for the Queen's Jubilee

Right now the Queen is celebrating her Diamond Jubilee. Lots of neat things are going on. You can check out the official website for The Queen's Diamond Jubilee  HERE.

With all the excitement of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee  I decided to have some fun and craft up something with a little bit of the Union Jack on it. I mean, why not….. My Mom is a British Subject so even though I have never been over the pond I do feel a certain connection.

I used Kuretake Zig Writers and colored canvas flags. I then set the color with a heat gun.For the whimsical banner on the canvas I used my Unity Stamp Co.Co-Branded Stamp set… 'Create your Day'.

On some of the images I had fun using American Crafts ZING embossing powder. Oh, and I had to use Tim Holtz Distress crackle paint because you know I LOVE to get lots of wonderful layers and textures!!! Everything was nicely glued together with Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

A Little Nautical Love

To get me into a summer mood I decided to have a little digital fun with some of Rhonna Farrer's wonderful Nautical Summer Designs!

A Little Look at Some Classes Coming Up.

So the Fall is going to be AWESOME!!! I am going to be traveling about Alberta this year doing several fun mixed media, scrapbooking, PanPastel, and fine art painting classes! I have even developed one brand new class that with have you turning your camera pictures into fine art that you will want to hang on your walls or give away as gifts! Super cool!!!! I will be with the Canadian Scrapbooker gals at the The Canadian Scrapbook Carnival during the week-end of October 20 in Calgary.

     In the beginning of September I will teaching a couple of fun classes at a Coast to Coast Event also in Calgary! You don't want to miss this one. All the talent at this show is AMAZING!!!

For all of these classes, I will have super new and exciting product out that I have designed…I can't wait! I love seeing how people create with all the products! If you are a store or group and would like me to come and teach… I still have a few openings and I would love to spend some time with ya! It is going to be lots of colorful fun!

How to Alter Your Ruby Violet Cuff

I fell in love with Ruby Violet when I first saw the line. It really is cute and my girls love to make up cuffs to go with their outfits. However, today I wanted to try something different with the reversible cuff.

So, I took out some of my Dad's old type setting tools and hammered a pattern into the cuff.

 

I then applied a coat of Smooch from Clearsnap over the impressions.

After letting it sit for a minute I took a rag and rubbed of the excess ink.I also rubbed the ink into the markings really well.

I then used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to glue on some lovely flowers and vintage charms from Prima Marketing and some bling from want2scrap to decorate the cuff a little bit more.

Feel INSPIRED through ART.

ART CAN INSPIRE YOU when you let it….so let it in your heart!

Sometimes, Life can get really hectic and crazy… it can even get you down.Luckily we are blessed on this earth with color and beauty all around us. It is so healing when we invite it into our heart!

You don't have to be a professional artist to feel the healing power that a paint brush or a drawing can create! Sit down with a crayon and see how the stresses of the day seem to melt away and a smile begins to form on your lips as you begin to open your heart up and create!

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL

* Invite it in!

After a few stressful months……

I needed to create for me.

So, I got out my tradition Japanese Inks and just let my {HEART} take control of my [HANDS] .

 Nothing  is more beautiful then

"ART from your HEART!!!"

But of course I had to mix in some color with my PanPastels!

Remember….You are special!

Don't ever forget that! Do something today to make your heart soar!

Sewing up a Mother Day's Gift with Rhonna's Designs

I wanted to make up something pretty and fun for Mother Day's so I looked to the Rhonna Farrer Designs that I have to figure out what I could create. I have to admit, I have really enjoyed being on her her design team and working with her designs because I can use her digital designs ~ Rhonna Designs,in so many ways. I use them to enhance my photography, for my scrapbooking & paper crafts, for mixed media , and now for my sewing projects. How cool is that!?!

For this project I used Spring Circus Printable Card Kit.

I printed the card kit onto Computer Printer Fabric by June Tailor Inc. I then used Heat n' Bond to adhere it to cotton which I sewed on to a canvas pillow form from Canvas Corp.

After using my awesome Westcott scissors that go through anything to make a fringe around the pillow, I pulled out some premium craft glue from Helmar to glue on some pretty ribbon from Maya Road to complete the look.

It only took me about 20 minutes to create this cute little pillow and it is so cheery! What a wonderful way to say I love you!
