"Expedition" Artwork by Shilpa

Hello Everyone, Shilpa here
I've created artwork with Cityscape stamp from "The Purpose of Art Stamp set" designed by Susan Weckesser.

Let's see the making process...

I started working on watercolor paper. I used Twinkling H2Os in purple, pinks, orange and red. It is wet on wet technique.

Next I stamped Cityscape on another watercolor paper and adhered on colored one. I also attached Prima lace on it.

To get colors on houses, I used Faber Castell design memory craft Aquarelle pencils and waterbrush
I made small circles on the background using bottle cap with white and purple ink.

I adhered flower, bow and die cut word- expedition and matted it all on suitable design papers.

Hope you liked and got inspired with my small artwork.
Susan has designed many stamp images including pretty houses...go get them!!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Spring: A Time of Renewal and Re-organization...

Hello Evryone! Design Team member Lynne here today to share some of my thoughts on Spring.  What is it about Spring that makes us want to CLEAN Everything?!  Is it the renewal of life making us want everything bright and new again?  Or (more likely for me) is it all that lovely bright sunshine streaming through the winter-dirty windows lighting up all the dust and cobwebs in the corners of my rooms?  Whatever it is Spring is a time of year when I am filled with a huge energy and desire to clean and re-organize EVERYTHING... Which brings me to this lovely little project that I created for my next-to-last post for the Susank K. Weckesser design team, a book for all my small stencils which I made from two 10"x10" pieces of cardboard and two binder rings.
Here's the front cover:  I mod podged a few torn pages from an old book onto the cardboard, sprayed it with my Dylusions sprays and cut and pasted from Susan K. Weckesser's Live in Color paper line and her digital stamp version of "Purpose of ART" stamp set ...Which, by the way, is now available in the UK at Polka Doodles (and which I just ordered!)

Here is a close up... as always I popped a few of the elements for interest, doodled in my title and around a few other elements as the mood struck me, and finally accented everything with Ranger's stickles and liquid pearl...
Here's the back cover:  I used up some old chipboard shapes that I have had lying around forever.  I'ts amazing how something changes when you cover it with gesso and paint it in the colors you want it to be, I Love gesso.
I created the stems for these flowers from a bright green hemp cord from May Arts that I have been saving for something really special, I also punched holes into the top bottom of my front cover and threaded it through... I just love the texture it created, it makes you want to keep stroking that cover... smile
Here are the front and back covers layed out: I didn't really have a plan for this book I just let it evolve and take me where it would.  I am discovering that when I take all the pressure off myself to "make it perfect" how perfectly something will evolve.  And because this was only a cardboard book for my stencils there was no pressure or need to be perfect at all and I love how fantastic it turned out.

Now, after the covers were completed and dry I punched in some holes using my Crop-a-Dial and I added some old 8x8 plastic page sleeves from an old scrapbook album to slide stencils into - I can fit four stencils to a sleeve - but then I ran out of 8x8 sleeves...
So then I punched holes right into the side of the plastic ziplock bags that other of my stencils came in, putting two in each bag and voila... all my small stencils are now in one place (happy Grin).
And did you notice the inside cover? That was created by mod podging my inky paper towels (the ones I used to blot when I used my sprays) to the inside... cool huh?
Another tip, collect up all the supplies you think you want to use and then just USE THEM... don't think about it, just DO IT... and look what happens!
This is so pretty and so organized that I think I need to make another of these books for my large stencils using 12x12 cardboard and 12x12 scrapbook page sleeves... what do you think?
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope this post will inspire you to create something of your own.

Less is more.

I'm sure a lot of people are under the impression that the term 'Mixed Media' means lots of layers, paint, mediums and general painty messy fun.

Although I adore the 'painty messy fun'  bit it doesn't always have to be the case. Sometimes less is more as they say.

This piece in my journal started out with the image of the skyline from 'The Purpose of Art' stamp set, coloured with alcohol pens and layered onto scraps of card, was intended for a card, but the colourful buildings gave me a better idea.

Just taking my Micron pen and more alcohol markers I went out into the Spring sunshine and just started to doodle and colour. I can tell you this was so satisfying I can highly recommend it.

I also took a silver Painty pen by Kuretake and touched in the windows with silver.

The words 'Live in Color' were stolen from the bottom of a sheet of Susan's Live In Color paper.

Remember . . . The Windy City that was mighty pretty?

Hi everyone, Tracy here today with a little more wood Art . . .
. . . remember this journal entry that I created back in August with
from the
Purpose Of Art stamp set
that Susan designed for Studio 12 for Polkadoodles in the UK . . .
well I thought it was about time I put the idea onto some of that wood I have in a pile in my shed.
I have used a few different products on the wood but other than that it`s just the same.
A quick coat of Maimeri Gesso followed by a little Phthalo Blue Shade Pan Pastel mixed with a little of the Gesso for the background. I didn`t get a clean stamped image, but that`s easy sorted later with a fine liner pen and a few doodle, doodle, doo`s.
I used a combination of Pan Pastels and Water color paints.
Before . . .
. . . Stamping  the image again, snipping a few buildings and clouds out before coloring and fixing in place with Maimeri Matt Medium.
Following the sky up and over the top along with a little doodled sentiment and Heart.
A few splars of paint, a quick run over with a clear embossing pad, a sprinkling of clear embossing powder set with the heat tool to finish.
It may be only a little chunk of wood, but the do make me HAPPY!
Well that`s all from me today except to say
Thank you so much for taking the time to look
Till next time
Happy crafting!
