"Home" Is Where You Plant Your Flower Seeds...

GOOD DAY all you lovely Susan K. Weckesser followers... SMILE. Lynne here today on this almost last day of October sharing one of the last posts for our October theme of "Home".

Today I want to share this sweet little project that is dear to my heart because not only am I featuring Susan's "What's Up Gnomey" stamps from Unity Stamps for the first time and I am also creating ART out of garbage as I re-purpose this old Coffee Mate Tin.

It is REALLY hard to photograph a round item properly to show off all sides to their best advantage, but I will try to give you a sense of how wonderfully textured and dimensional this project is through all these photos:

This Tin makes me just plain Happy and I love how every side is a little bit different.  I don't know yet where this tin will end up but where ever it is it will absolutely brighten someone's day.

Here is a list of some of the other items I used to create my little tin of Happy:

Susan K. Weckesser's "Little Haven"  and "What's Up Gnomey" Unity Stamps
Ranger's Stickles, Liquid Pearls and "Ideaology" Tissue Wrap
Stazon Ink
Colour Arte Silks Acrylic Glazes
Sharpie Black Marke
Copic Markers
Liquitex Ultra Matte Medium
Derwent Inktense Blocks

You can view more photos and my creative process over at my blog... Smile.

Live, Love and Create!

Hello Folks! Peggy here, today I would like to show you my card design with Susan K Weckesser Paper and Stamps. I loved coloring this little stamp.

I chose background paper from the Susan K Weckesser Color Burst Collection  and the Live, Love, Create Collection
I fussy cut flowers from the Live in Color Paper Collection
My sweet girl is from the Love Ya Whole Bunches Stamp Set.. Is she not the cutest!.
I stamped her using Memento Black ink so I could color without my image bleeding into the colors.

I colored my image with Copic Markers  . I just love this card.. and the details in the stamp images make coloring these images a pleasure.

I placed all my paper pieces on black cardstock.

Two Little Dickie Birds

Hello lovely creative friends :)
Samantha here with my second make for October and I couldn't resist altering a cute little wooden bird house with Susan's fabby 'At Ground Level' stamp set, how adorable is this cute little bird?
I do feel so sorry for the birds in cold weather, they all need little houses like this!
I began by cutting strips of card and punching flower shapes and gluing on the house before painting. It gives a wonderful layer of texture.
The tree, flowers and bird were stamped on some shrink plastic using black Staz On, I find this best for shrink plastic. Then I used Prismacolour pencils to colour. I shrunk them using a heat gun and glued in place.
The final touch was some a little heart for their homestead and some green paper rafetta for some bird bedding.
The whole project took just a couple of hours and was great fun.
The lovely stamps I used are shown below and can be found here
I do hope I have inspired you and I wish you a lovely day,

"Expedition" Artwork by Shilpa

Hello Everyone, Shilpa here
I've created artwork with Cityscape stamp from "The Purpose of Art Stamp set" designed by Susan Weckesser.

Let's see the making process...

I started working on watercolor paper. I used Twinkling H2Os in purple, pinks, orange and red. It is wet on wet technique.

Next I stamped Cityscape on another watercolor paper and adhered on colored one. I also attached Prima lace on it.

To get colors on houses, I used Faber Castell design memory craft Aquarelle pencils and waterbrush
I made small circles on the background using bottle cap with white and purple ink.

I adhered flower, bow and die cut word- expedition and matted it all on suitable design papers.

Hope you liked and got inspired with my small artwork.
Susan has designed many stamp images including pretty houses...go get them!!

Hi everyone!!

I hope you´re having a great week! Noe here to show you my newest project for Susan K.Weckesser Inc... love her stamps... They are gorgeous!!

At this time I wanted to make one card... Cardmaking is one of my scrapbooking passions with Mixed Media art.

To make the background I used "Mermaid Lagoon" Distress Spray Stain spraying water on the card,
ink reacts leaving a beautiful watercolor effect.

I´ve also used "Wild Honeysuckle Coral" Lindys Stamp Gang, love this inks, they have a totally irresistible pearl effect!

Finally, I used a new product for me: "Stampendous Embossing Powder poudre pour gaufrage", exactly "Shabby Pink Rosé Minable" and "Aged Silver Argent Vieille" colors, and I must say I love the effect that make these embossing powders, a real discovery for me!
Susan K.Weckesser stamps were colored with my Spectrum Noir... I used these stamps sets:

Everyday is a Blessing

Every day is a blessing. Everyday is a challenge. Everyday is an Adventure.

I have wanted to blog, to write down my feelings. I often have sat down over the last few months and scribble a word here, jotted down a sentence there, but it just didn't feel right. I was tired of hearing my own words. My mind is numb and tired. My hands are fine, most of the time and that is why I am happiest to sit in my studio with some paints or pastels and inks and just draw and create my feelings.

I don't even know what to say. The last few months have been hard. I find myself building a cacoon around myself as I try to build myself up. Eight months ago I never imagined how hard this journey is. The physical pain, the mental pain, and spiritual pain. At times the loneliness of this journey almost suffocates me. I feel like I must carry on each day and put a smile on my face but deep inside me I wish my mother was here to hold me and to tell me the it is going to be alright. I feel like such a small child at times. So scared and lonely. It is a time of uncertainty and not knowing. At one time in my life, I had everything planned out, I think I was 18 at the time, This is what my plan looked like: go to University, meet a wonderful man, get married, have a family, work on my career and my company, watch our kiddos grow, go on a mission with my hubbie, enjoy lots and lots of grandchildren, grow old with my hubbie and travel the world with him. Yup, I don't ever remember writing in there , 'get cancer.' It is amazing how life just throws you curve balls sometimes . Sometimes it can weigh heavy on my shoulders.  And then I remember to say a little prayer and I look at all the blessings that I do have. That really does help quite a bit. It helps a lot!! It helps me to focus on the positive things!

Create to Live!

I really do have to take time to create time each day to create each day. It heals my heart. I go in for surgery, biopsies, and treatment every couple months. I am waiting right now for my next kidney surgery to be booked. So,I make sure I have lots of new and fun projects to keep my mind busy and my heart happy.

Cancer is hard. It is scary. It is lonely. It is live changing.
Cancer is so full of uncertainties. I am told I have a cancer that is reoccurring. Or in other words it is  a disease that I will be monitoring and trying to keep on top off the rest of my life, how ever long that might be. I have a hard enough time keeping on top of my housework. Good grief. And, to be honest with you, I never thought of Cancer as a disease: it was just Cancer. So, when I heard it referred to as a disease that made it sound even yuckier. I like to think C is for Cookie. Yes, those are the types of mind games that I play. If I don't, I can get feeling very sad and dark because I have a mind that won't stop thinking. Darn my creative mind. Sometimes is it SUCH a curse! I really have had to dig deep the last few months. I don't make it out to church much because usually in the mornings I don't feel well until early afternoon. I miss seeing people. But, you can see how people treat you differently and that makes me sad. I am not contagious people and in the words of Monty Python, "I'm not dead yet!"  Heck, I will like live until I am 190! A little old eccentric lady with glitter in her hair, paint and ink all over her and cats all over her studio! Haha! Picture that! Ok, maybe don't picture that!
I am strong. I can do this. But I am human so I have my ups and my downs. My happy days and my times full of tears. Life is beautiful! Life is hard but oh, what a blessing this journey is!

This year I am working hard in my studio doing what I love to do. Working on deadlines for magazines, new products , and maybe even a book or two. It keeps my mind free and happy. And I have a wonderful design team that is such a joy to work with.

Thank-you for your love and support! I could never say thank-you enough! You messages, letters, phones calls, pictures.... It helps me SO much! Your friendship means so much! Every positive word and thought!
Thank-you for being amazing!
Hugs,
Susan xo

Tumbleweed houses: Tiny House Mixed Media ATCs

Hi all

Hi Katie Lamb here, I am back with some ATCs i made using the tumbleweed houses stamp set.

ATC is short for artist trading card and we swap them with each other.  It's like a miniature work of art

I coloured in the houses with alcohol markers and cut them out.

I created the backgrounds by spritzing a couple of misters onto the blank card and blending them with a brush.

I created a pattern on the card by rubbing ink over a TCW stencil using a make-up sponge.

The Home stamp was coloured using water based ink for a more vibrant effect.

I used blue inks to create a sky line and coloured in a few of the little houses before cutting them out and lining them up in a row.

Thank you for Visiting.

Make Autumn a little brighter

I love Autumn. It's not too hot and not too cold and there's no pollen to make me sneeze. However the evenings are getting darker a little earlier so in just a few hours I decorated an empty baby food jar and made something that is pretty and useful. I just can't seem to be able to throw away jars and tins you never know when they can come in handy and a whole collection of these would look delightful.
I started off by thoroughly cleaning the jar and removing the label. I then painted the outside with gesso and a couple of layers of a neutral coloured acrylic paint. Whilst the paint was drying I stamped the charming Tumbleweed Houses stamps on white card. Coloured and cut out including window details. The colours I chose the houses I also splattered over the jar.
When the paint and splats were dry I decided where to put my house and scrapped the paint away from underneath allowing light to shine through the jar. A little twine around the top finished it off.
I added the clouds and sun and used some glitter to make the sun sparkle. It was important to me that this was pretty during daylight too.
In the evenings I put a tea light candle inside and the whole thing just comes alive.
Every time I look at it I smile and as it gets darker and darker it becomes more dramatic.
I hope you make some tea light holders to make your Autumn brighter I really enjoyed making this and I hope you do too.
These are the stamps I used and you can find them here

Wishing you a lovely day.

Welcome Home

Hello friends. Larissa here with you today with a little welcome home card.
I absolutely love these little house from the Tumbleweed Houses stamp set.

I wanted the focus to by on one house so I stamped the other little houses using a gray ink and then shadowed it with Copic markers. Then I added color to the one house for it to stand out. I then added the clouds, sun and sentiment. Above the sentiment I added the word Welcome using a black Micron marker.

I matted the card with a gray cardstock and matted it onto an orange cardbase.

There are so many ideas you can make with these little houses. I just really liked the way the muted shadows looked.

Hope you enjoyed my card today. Don't forget to check back to see what the amazing Design Team is up to.

Have a wonderful day friends.

Altered Canvas Bag by Shilpa

Hello Everyone, Shilpa here,
I am super excited to share with you my first post here.
I've altered small canvas bag and for that I've used Happy The Homestead stamp
 designed by Susan Weckesser

Let's see the process...

When I saw this small(7 1/2" *6") canvas bag at my local craft store, I knew it is perfect for altering with Susan's cute stamps.
I started with applying coat of white gesso. Let it dry completely.

I stamped on the surface with text and texture stamps and Jet black Archival Ink

I adhered washi tape with soft gloss gel. It was the time to bring on the colors. I used Gelatos for this.
I applied Gelatos directly on the surface, spritzed water and blended the colors with my fingers.

I stamped  the Happy Homestead house image with black archival ink on design paper. Cut it out and adhered it on surface with soft gloss gel. Further I colored it with PIIT pens.

Some more stamping in the background to create flowers, birds and clouds..and my bag is ready.
I believe this will be fabulous gift for any special friend!

That's it for today, let me know if you liked my Altered Canvas Bag.
I'll see you again in two weeks ...for more mixed media projects visit my blog Neon Diary.
