A LITTLE GIFT.....

It is that time of year!  No, not holiday time, end of the school year time!  Teachers, bus drivers, students or graduates.  All of them deserve a little something and nothing is better than a handmade gift.  I thought making these little notebooks into something much better was a great (and economical) way to go.
I attached mulberry paper from The Paper Company to the front of the mini composition notebooks that I got where everything is a dollar.  I used water around the edges of the mulberry paper, and pulled the fibers to make a furry look to my handmade book cover.  Then, I used Ranger Distress Ink in Spiced Marmalade on the binding and some of the fur.  Susan K. Weckesser's awesome stencil was my guide for the "X" pattern down the side.  Miscellaneous ribbon and beads were added to close the book and to mark your page in the book.

These super cute images are from Susan's beautiful papers, Bouquet and Live In Color.  I fussy cut out the flower and the bird and attached them to the cover.  Susan sent me some fun paper flowers, so I used 2 to finish my handmade book cover off.

Such a fun and easy little book!  I know it will be loved!

Color Burst Flower Card

Hi! Dana Tatar here today sharing a card that I created with the super fun Susan K. Weckesser Color Burst Patterned Paper and Autumn Grunge Stamp Set. The colored circles on the patterned paper were just begging to be cut out. I distressed the edges of each circle, punched a hole in the middle and then layered them to create flowers. The Autumn Grunge leaves have a create distressed quality that paired well with my blooms.

I cut the sentiment from the Live In Color Tags Patterned Paper and cut the small butterfly from the Beautiful Daydreams Patterned Paper. I finished the card with some doodles and colored twine.

Bookmark it and give it away!

I love to make bookmarks and then tuck them away into a book that I checked out from the library and give the next reader a little surprise. I discovered this idea called Art Abandonment in a group over on Face Book. You can attach a little note if you want and that person may even contact you to let you know they got it!

The bookmarks are very easy to make, I make mine from a 3" wide strip that I simply fold in ½ and secure with my Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

The next step was decorating the bookmark by using the Live in Color Stencil, I colored the numbers in with my PITT pen by Faber Castell, placing each number inside the film strip rectangle frame. Then I doodled over them for just a little added interest and fun.

On the back of each bookmark I stamped the sentiment from the Insta-Cute set, it fit in rather nicely with my book that I checked out, The Tao of Pooh. :)

If you borrow a book from a friend, make one and slide it in as a little thank you gift, they will love it.

Come Sail Away

Welcome to my first post with the Susan K Weckesser Design team.
Let me share a canvas I made.
I must say I had so much fun creating with this adorable  Sail Away  stamp set created by Susan K Weckesser from Unity.
Let me share a few steps I did to create.
This is one of my heavy paper pads that I stamped several copies of the Sail Away stamp.

The 12 x 12 canvas was easy to prepare. I put a layer of Mod Podge down and added torn sheets of tissue paper to add layers.
While the canvas was drying I was able to work on painting the Sail Away  images. I loved mixing and blending several colors and allowing them to dry.
One important step is to make sure all the tissue paper is trimmed and pushed down on the edges.
Look how easy it is to blend and make the sea background, I left some white tissue exposed.
Once all the  Sail Away images were dry I was able to fussy cut them.

I used Susan K Weckesser's stencil to accent my thick white ribbon, first with ink and then with paint. I stamped and embossed the sentiment from Sail Away on a piece of vellum. I attached the sentiment with some eyelets and layered it on top of a tri-blue piece of ribbon.

Wanted to share a close up of all the images~I pop dotted all the larger images with the waves. I also decided to cut a few extra images and cut out just the sailboat. I also decided to add some clear lacquer to make the sailboats shine!
Thanks for your visit, would love to hear what you think of my first canvas project .

June's Guest Designer - Kim Kendell - Australia

This month I am honored to be the guest designer for the amazing Susan K Weckesser Inc, these papers are amazing papers they are 65lb and 100% recycled paper and double sided I was really impressed with the quality of the papers and the colours in them.

For my 1st share this month I have created the following LO I have used the Live in Colour Collection to create this layout. You will notice I love to cut papers up and make the most of every piece and I have used multiple papers to create this layout the were just awesome for the photos of my cousin celebrating her 40th birthday.

To me the papers speak of happiness and freedom and therefore are so easy to use with that sort of photo.

To create this layout I have used the following papers and stamp set.

Thank you for looking at my creation and I will be back on the 25th June with another layout created from the same range Kim.

Teacher Gift Bag

Hi! Dana Tatar here today sharing my first project as a Susan K. Weckesser designer. My daughters finish up their last couple days of school next week and are absolutely thrilled to start their Summer vacation. I created small gift bags for their teachers, who deserve a big thank you for all their hard work this year.

The colorful alphabet design on the Susan K. Weckesser Live, Love, Create Patterned Paper was absolutely perfect for this project! This gift bag measures 11cm x 8cm x 3 cm, which means I was able to create 2 gift bags with one sheet of 12x12 inch paper! (I used a gift bag template that I found here.) Susan K. Weckesser patterned papers are printed on a heavy cardstock weight paper, making them perfect for off-the-page projects. This gift bag is stronger (and cuter) than its store-bough counterparts.

I highlighted the colored letters on the patterned paper with a black marker for added interest. I then cut a tag from the Susan K. Weckesser Live in Color Tags Patterned Paper, added a stamped sentiment using the Insta-Cute Stamp Set and tied it to the handle with some colorful twine. I finished the bag with a flower and some tissue paper. This gift bag is the perfect size to hold a gift card.

Feeling Blue Dear Friend

Good morning Steph here today feeling just a little blue.  How about you?  What has you feeling blue today?  Is it perhaps the change in the weather?  Or perhaps it's because school is over for another year?  Or perhaps someone near and dear has moved on?  Well, whatever it is that has you feeling blue, pull out some papers from Susan K Weckesser and create.  That always puts me in a better frame of mind.

I found the Feeling Blue label from the Live In Color collection, and knew it would be the perfect focal point of my card.

A strip of pattern paper was torn, inked, and added to the left hand side of a blue card.   A large flower was then fussy cut and inked with Clearsnap ink before being adhered on top.  The Feeling Blue label was placed alongside the flower.

Using a chipboard ring from Umwow Studios, I inked it and placed it in the center of the flower.  Then I placed dew drops from the Robin's Nest in the center of  both flowers using ScraPerfect's The Best Glue Ever.    A tiny tag from Umwow Studios was also inked with Clearsnap ink and "Dear Friend, I Miss You" was stamped on top.

A little gift to go along with a card is always a nice gesture.  I created a small box, approximately 5" square.  Using left over papers, I  decorated it, adding a fussy cut larger flower for the focal point.  Robin's Nest dew drops were added to the flower centers.

And inside ---- who can resist something sweet!

Now that I've had some time to create, I am feeling so much better.  What about you?  What will you create today?

Thanks for stopping by.
