Love Journal Page by Shilpa

Hello Everyone,

Shilpa here and I am back with Art Journal page with Susan's cute stamps.

Its a one page journal for which I've used "At Ground Level", "Painted Sentiments" and "Fly Away" stamp set.

here is the procedure,

I adhered music paper and tissue paper to my page. Primed with gesso and applied various distress paints.

When the surface dried, I adhered washi tapes and  applied Whipped Spackle through stencil on the surface for interest and texture.

On another, watercolor paper I stamped trees, clouds and bird with black Archival ink. Colored the images with watercolors.

I assembled everything on page with sentiment and flowers and my page was ready.

A Tweet Little Cushion

Hello Crafty Friends :) 

Samantha here with another garden themed make I would like to share with you.

I don't very often get the urge to use a needle and thread so when I do funny things happen like this sweet little cushion.

I'm not totally sure where the idea for this cushion came from. Our theme for the month is Art Journal Fun -  Explore your back yard/garden. I know there isn't technically any journaling but I love the positivity of the 'Let your heart sing' sentiment. 

I started my cushion by applying interfacing to the back of some plain white muslin. The interfacing stops the material from falling apart and helps to give the cushion strength and structure. I painted the green grass and blue sky directly on the front of the cushion. I used a stencil to add a little layer of detail to the green grass by painting a light green first and then using the stencil a dark green. I then stamped the sentiment also straight on to the cushion.

The sun and birds and flowers were all stamped separately and after stitching and filling the cushion they were glued and stitched in place along with some sequins for a little sparkle.

I didn't use any specialist paint just normal acrylics did the job.

One of my favourite garden birds is the robin so I used Derwent watercolour pencils to colour my robin as I was a little concerned that paint wouldn't blend on the fabric how I wanted it to.

Happiness!

Hi everyone!!

I almost didn´t arrive on time !! But here I am!! I´ll tell you a little secret ... my favorite season is autumn! I love autumn colors, not just green or orange and some flowers bloom at this time !!

So... autumn can be a colorful season! And that's what I've done these days, observe the colors of all the things around me for inspiration and make a new page in my Art Journal!

In my Garden Stamp Set

Another secret: I´m a fan of Gelatos ... I love creating backgrounds using them, and that's how I made my own background ...Then  I added some relief with textures pastes and over them I've sprinkled some embossing powder.

I used the stamps in two different ways: one, stamping them directly on the pages of my journal and two, I stamping them on a separate sheet to paint and add them with 3D foam tape.

Finally I used Doodle stencil and some border stamps to frame my page.

Art Journal My Garden Angel

Hi all! Katie here and 

I am back with an art journal page and this month the blog theme is all about searching around in your backyard. So i decided this little Angel blessing was fitting for the theme

I used the What's Up Gnomey stamp set for this art journal page.

I began making the background by stamping a flower border using the Love Ya Whole Bunches stamp set. I then used Doodle Stencil to add the daisies onto the background with texture paste. Next i spritzed the page with a mixture of green mist sprays.

I love the  Gnomey stamp because he is so versatile and could even be coloured and used as a Santa but today he is my little garden angel watching over the flowers. I stamped the flowers and bugs from the What's Up Gnomey set onto smooth card and coloured them with alcohol markers before cutting them out.

There are lots of details with this stamp set and i love the little lady birds. What's Up Gnomey and is one of my favourites.

Guardian of my Garden

Hello! Samantha here today hoping you are having a lovely creative day where ever you may be.

Today I would like to share with you a very rare thing. I scrapbooked. I think rofl. Technically it's not for a scrapbook but it measures 12 x 12 so in my head it's scrapbook size.

In the northern hemisphere we are now getting in to Autumn so I took the opportunity to remember Summer and this summer I really enjoyed spending time in my garden with my Mini Schnauzer named Poppy. 

 I'm always surprised at just how many creatures I can find in my garden. Those that live there and those that just visit. The only lodgers I don't really like are worms and slugs. Yuk! But I adore the birds and butterflies and ladybugs. They never fail to make me smile.

This year a neighbour gave me a Hydrangea as a thank you gift for looking after his garden whilst he went away. The blooms started off with the most delicate lilac colour. They then changed to a lovely almost bright Barbie pink and the finale is the colour you can see in the photo above. That really is the colour they are now. Beautiful.

The other photo shows Albert. He watches over Poppy and myself and the garden and brings a lovely calmness. In this photo Albert is holding this years Poppy head harvest. He looks rather pleased don't you think?

 As much as I love my garden in the day I also enjoy it during darkness and this summer I enjoyed a wonderful treat in the middle of August when there was the Perseids meteor shower. In just one evening whilst lay on the summer grass I saw dozens of shooting stars and made lots of wishes!

Moon gazing is done almost every night and more recently we had the blood moon eclipse. All in my back garden. Wow.

Back to my 'pages' as you can see it is made of cardboard. I just love a bit of recycling. I peeled away some of the cardboard cover to reveal the corrugated part underneath which adds a layer of depth. I cut it in two 4.5 inches in on one side and tied with garden twine and some crafty bakers twine. The whole area was given a thin layer of gesso leaving some bare cardboard showing through.

I decorated using some cloud design washi tape and tree bark butterflies. The tree decoration was made by making a paper cast of the stamp from the At Ground Level stamp set. This is easily done by spritzing your stamp well with water and then using a brush push some kitchen paper or toilet paper in to the stamp and repeating this step 5 - 6 times. Allow it to dry overnight and then give a coat of gesso to make it stronger and seal it. I painted it to match the green of Albert's harvest and added some sequin blossoms.

I used Susan's Doodle Stencil for the wavy line at the bottom representing grass and also to add the white flowers which give another layer of texture and a little brightness. I used Journal Doodles with a Heart stamp set for all the stamped images and used a neutral brown to match the cardboard and to make the green and pinks pop. Finally a little sparkle was added to the stars to make them twinkle.

Plant a Garden

Hello friends. Larissa here today with a journal page that I am turning into pattern paper. When I set down to do this journal page I had something in my mind that I wanted it to look like in the end. I started stamping the flowers and leaves from "In My Garden" stamp set.

I actually stamped more than originally planned. I ended up grabbing my watercolors and coloring each flower and everything in between. 

I planned on cutting it into 4 x 5 1/4 inch mats for a few birthday and thank you cards. But today I ended up with one of my favorite verses on a garden pick. 

"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow" by Aubrey Hepburn. That is so true for so many today.

I will be posting my cards when I figure out what I want them to say over on my blog and social media.

Live in full color!

Hi everyone!!

Here Noe... How are you? I hope you had a fantastic entry into November month... I'll tell you a secret about me ... I love bright colors, convey me much joy ... So today I come with a notebook to write down all my thoughts , my projects and my memories ... A notebook that gives me, just looking, positive energy!

Another secret that I will tell you about me is that I love to do my own backgrounds for my projects, whether cards, LO's, mini albums, etc ... and this time would not be otherwise ... Let's do it!

The first step was to play with my inks and a roller to apply them on a piece of watercolor paper ... for this, I pulverized and mixed various inks and colors on an acetate sheet... Then, I inking my roller and applied it on paper.

I added textures with different embossing powders and some stamps on the sheet, without any order, leaving out creativity!

Finally, I cut sentiment of one of the fantastic papers designed for Susan, and I added them some relief outlining the contours with an embossing pen and gold embossing powders.

I had so much fun designing this project that I could not resist use my new notebook nothing more to finish !!
