Friends Are The Family We Choose Card

Hello friends!  Happy Thursday!  It's Lee-Anne here and today I wanted to share an extra special card I created with Susan's amazing stamps and papers to give to a dear friend of mine.

I just LOVE The Happy Homestead Stamps.

 I first stamped the house stamp with black archival ink onto white card stock and then "painted" it with some mists to coordinate with Susan's Live In Color Collection of patterned papers. 

 After it was coloured and stamped, I popped it up on the card with some pop dots.  I then stamped the word "family" onto white card stock, cut the letters out separately and adhered it to the card.  I fussy cut the sun and adhered some yellow twine and placed a large sequin  in the center of the twine and adhered it to the card.

 Right now I am loving the sequin trend so I wanted to give a little more texture and dimension to the house roof so I adhered some pink sequins to the roof.

Finally I fussy cut a cloud, flowers, grass and a bird out of the Live In Color Collection of patterned papers and adhered them to the card and used some tiny letter stickers to finish the title.

Altered Marble Tile

Hi Jennifer here, hope all is well with everyone.  Feeling a little SPRINGY today so made a cute little floral tile to cheer me up! I started with a plain marble tile from Home depot. 

Then I took a fancy paper napkin and pulled the layers open and removed only the top layer with the picture on it.  I then decoupaged it onto the tile.  It gave it a translucent look.

I then stamped the lady from the Susan K Weckessar set "Poised and Pretty" onto a bit of card stock and cut it out and pasted her onto the tile.

I then took some Want2Scrap flourishes and painted them with Smooch from Clear Snap.  Once dry over top of them I inked them with Clear Snap inks.  I glued them down to the tile and then found some flowers and added them to the tile as well, a few words from an old set of Fancy Pants and a bit of bling and TADA done.  A cute little altered tile. 

The flowers remind me of peonies, one of my favourite flowers.  I cant wait till they start to come out again in the spring!  Hope you all are enjoying the weather in your part of the world and making the most of it!  Take care till next time.  Jennifer





Home Grown Love on the Home Front - in 3-D!

Happeeee Daaay everyone... Lynne here today, and for my second Susan K. Weckesser design team post this month I am sharing my first try at a three-dimensional diaorama/card...

Let me start off by saying that I LOVE to fussy cut - and if that's not your favorite thing, this may not be the project for you (smile) but I had a lot of fun making pieces for my diaorama and then attaching them using a variety of paper tabs and foam pop dots.

For some elements, like the house, I stamped the image on several different card stocks and created a dimensional little element that I attached to the diaorama; 

 For other elements, like the sun,  I stamped and cut out and popped off the background;

It was like assembling a very intricate puzzle where you were building UP and OUT and AROUND, and it made my creative brain VERY Happy..

Susan's extra thick paper line was perfect for this project because the 120lbs paper has more body than even card stock so it stands up well to being used for 3-D.... I started with a 12"x4" strip of cardstock that I scored and folded at the 4" mark to make an "L" shape - that was my base... and I added another 3" piece of cardstock to the bottom after I had "cut" my grass... to give it a bit more stability.

The way I used paper strips to attach the first elements, the trees and the house, helped to give the entire really project good stability...

I used several of Susan's Unity stamp sets on this project and I stamped everything except the house right onto the Live in Color paper line using Archival black ink- no coloring required.

I stamped the "home grown love on the home front" sentiment in green ink all over the back of my diaorama to add some interest, and for that finishing touch I cut out this great photo of my hubby and grandsons, and attached it so they are sitting looking at our home...

And of course it just wouldn't be a project of mine if I didn't cover it in stickles and liquid glass for that pop of sun-shiney sparkle!

Anita here sharing a fun way to add mini tag and pocket to your page
using Susan K Weckesser paper

cut a tag at 3 x 2 1/2 inch snip the 2 top edges off
punch out a mini heart
cut a bit of twine for the top of your tag

cut a bit of patterned paper 4 x 2 inch

 glue the mini heart to the top center of your tag and punch
 a mini hole through the center of the heart and add your twine

 punch a butterfly on the left hand side of your patterned paper

fold in half and machine stitch bottom and left hand side
pop your tag in the pocket and add it to your layout or project 

if you wanted to you could add a note inside
here is my finished layout
my daughter eve and our cat loona she follows the girls around the yard when they are playing so you always know where she is just like a best friend

Hi everyone, I am so happy to be a guest designer for {my sweet earth} today. I just love all the projects I see over here by the fabulous design team, so it thrills me to be among such wonderful talented ladies!

 I adore the papers and stamps by Susan K. Weckesser, which have a delightful, whimsical mixed media look to them in bright cheery colors! Plus they are made from 100% recycled paper made in the USA! Bonus!

This is my card that I created:

I love this Unity Stamp by Susan called Insta-Cute. I admit I am addicted to all stamps that include cameras and Polaroid frames but these red rubber stamps are large, which is just awesome to work with! I stamped the frame onto the Live, Love, Create paper and then cut the inside out and glued it over the top of the Bouquet paper with the bird on it. Perfect fit.

Two of my favorite things to do are outlining and fussy cutting. The outlining just makes everything pop and by cutting out my pieces I get to create some fantastic layering and dimension.

The only thing left to do is assemble everything together and add a few finishing touches like Helmar's Liquid Scrap Dots to give the butterfly wings dimension and Rangers Liquid Pearls to embellish the frame.

Then I used the Crafters Workshop Live in Color stencil to create a fun border on my envelope along with the smile sentiment from the  Insta-Cute stamp, I think a little mail art is fun for everyone: recipient and postal carrier alike!!

I love to use flowers and girly things on my cards and projects, but sometimes I want something more masculine, especially if it's for my husband.  I find that a great substitute for flowers are gears, and there are so many varieties out there in chipboard, acrylic, stamps, stickers, and punches.  So here is a card I made for his birthday this year.

I am loving paint splatter right now, I seem to be using them in just about every project, but they really add to the dimension and depth to your paper for very little effort and cost.  I then on top of the splatters used some of Susan K. Weckesser stamps around the edges and borders of the card for more dimension and texture.  I kept to earth tone colors for a rustic look, I felt that it just added to the masculine feel.

I was not happy with any of the alpha letters I had on hand, they were not the correct size, wrong color, wrong font, etc.  So I took something that I like the size and font and altered the color.  These were foam "Thickers" in grey.  I pressed my distress ink by Ranger in a dark brown on top to give it a darker look and distress the letters a bit.

Here you can see some of Susan K. Weckesser stamps up close.  I used the "banner" and the "create your day" stamps.

I love Susan K. Weckesser papers.  The a fun, flirty, and whimsical.  I took a small section of one of her papers to make these banners. 

Play with your stamps and inks.   You can get such wonderful results by layering and just letting your project go where it needs to go.
