Spooky Traditions

image

'What traditions do you and your family have?'

20111031_1   Last Night as we were decorating cookies to pixie, I discovered that we have a Halloween tradition. The kiddos knew about it….. but I didn't think of it as a tradition. If you are faint of heart, don't read on. We take perfectly good sugar cookies and decorate them to look like the have been injured or turned into zombies. I know… It is awful! I don't know why or when this started, but I know that we have fun doing it and then we deliver the cookies to random people. It is a night full of giggles all the time!

We has so much fun putting the goodies into decorated bags and then pixieing them to random people! Love it! 6297048044_f1f69d594b

I made these bags using some of Rhonna Designs . Aren't they fun!

Have fun with your family this Halloween and make some of your own  traditions!

Have a SPoOKy time!

Altering Halloween Pumpkins

HAppy Halloween Pumpkin

Isn't it great how with Halloween the sky is the limit on how you can decorate? I love all the different Halloween color palettes that there is now. It is so amazing how people put all the colors together to make wonderful displays .

I love browsing COLOURlovers. It is a wonderful site to make new color palettes or to find ones. Color schemes are available to download.

I found these wonderful Halloween color palettes there.

I LOVE Color!!!

I also had fun altering a pumpkin. It was a plastic pumpkin that I picked up at a dollar store. I used Mod Podge and old sewing pattern & book pages to cover it. I then used Kuretake ZIG Painty Gold & Silver pen to add some shine to it. For the tag I took out my Kuretake ZIG Clean Color Real Brush pens to get that awesome watercolor look for the pumpkin.     tag

I was over on Kuretake's blog today….. that was fun to see the Maple flag over there! :) It is a fun Design Team to be on.

Being Creative with PanPastels

Believe

I was lucky enough to receive some PanPastels and boy did I  have fun this past week-end playing with them. I wasn't sure at first because I am a old fashioned kind of gal when it come to my art supplies, but I have to admit I am in love with these beautiful pastels that are smartly kept in little containers. The colors are so rich and vibrant, not to mention very dimensional. Believe 1  The pastels are really neat, not like the traditional stick pastels where I am not sure about you, but I end up wearing most of the dust.

Believe 3 (2)

PanPastels worked wonderfully with any medium that I worked on and I was able to mix different solutions with them to achieve different looks.

* water----> to achieve a water color look

*acrylic medium -----> to achieve a glaze look

* acrylic medium + gesso + heat gun ------> to achieve a crackle look

Believe 4 (2)    Believe 5 (2)

It was super easy to work in layers with the PanPastels. In the picture below I used a acrylic medium  and mixed it with a PanPastel and then heated it with a heat gun to create a neat bubble and crack effect. Believe 6 (2)

For more information on the PanPastels please visit their site. They have a lot of information and videos.

Ultra Soft Artists’ Painting Pastels

"PanPastel Colors are professional grade soft pastel colors packed in a unique pan format (cake-like) so that they can be mixed and applied like paint. They are very low dust for a cleaner working environment."

53302827b
Thanksgiving for us in Canada is this week-end already and I really do have a lot to be thankful for! I am so grateful for my family, my friends….both online and offline, oh, and my furry friends! I am also so grateful for my faith, it helps me get through each and everyday! I am also grateful for my career. I am so blessed to be able to stay at home with my kiddos, to be able to work at something that I love and to meet so many neat  and kind people!
For this Thanksgiving week-end I am having another wonderful giveaway! A few weeks ago I was shown this neat scrapbook software called My Memories - www.MyMemories.com . I created a very quick layout with it. I was impressed when looking at the digital scrapbooking software because you can do more then just digital layouts. You can create cards, albums, alter pictures, you can add sound, videos. It is really cool.   Not to mention, I was so impressed by the amount of designers that they have to chose from! Here are just a few:…
