Oh my, I luv the wonderful world of softies! I think that luv began in grade school when i first designed & create a stuffed pink, purple, & orange elephant. I was SO proud of my creation! Fabric have greatly changed over the last couple of years with some beautiful and easy to use patterns and designs coming out all the time! I had fun using some left over pieces from my fabric by Moda Fabric to come up with these easy & whimsical star softies.

Whimsical Star Softie Pattern

supplies needed:

-5” square fabric

-3” ribbon

-stuffing

-assorted beads, tags, ribbons, pins, gems, etc

-fabric glue

After cutting out your pieces, place the right sides together & pin. Fold the 3” ribbon together & slide the loop end into the pinned star & secure. Sew together leaving a 1 1/2” opening. Turn it inside out, stuff, and stitch it up. Now have fun and decorate it!

I hope you have as much fun with these as I did. You can make them to give to friends or teachers, or start making them for Christmas!

Scrapbooking Personal History

My Baba

When scrapbooking it really is easy to get into a rut where you will tend to scrapbook about the same topic all the time. Some people prefer to scrapbook about holidays, some like the topic of children, or pets. It really easy to find something that you like and to stay with that topic. It really is important to try to explore different themes like personal history. Pick some moments from your youth and scrapbook about it. Maybe pick a person that really meant a lot to you and scrapbook about them. Just remember that when you do scrapbook that you remember to include happy and sad memories. It is all part of history and it is all equally important to remember.  Not only are your scrapbooks entertaining and nice to look at, but they can include important information for generations to come!

Scrapbooking with American Crafts

Recently I had some fun scrapbooking with some fun products from American Crafts. I am loving the colors that are out this season. Papers and embellishments are bursting with wonderful hues! It really make makes it  a joy to play with all these neat supplies! I had fun using American Crafts  foamy letters - THICKERS. I also used my circle punch to make some fun embellishments. AC paper really is fun, so I cut out a heart and used a little bit of paper glass finish from Folk Art to give it a dimensional finish. Oh...and don't forget hand journaling! I love to finish off a layout with a little bit of hand journaling! The great thing about about this seasons colors too is that they are so lovely that they really can be used for other seasons too!

Photographing Summer Dellights

       Jessica's Day Dream copyrighted© by Susan K.Weckesser

We took a wonderful walk in a gorgeous coulĂ©e that is not to far from our new house and I was so intrigued by all the wonderful photo ops  that were all around me. I felt like I was a kid in a candy store. Because I was dealing with different heights and textures I had to make sure that I positioned my self at different levels so that I could capture the atmosphere that I wanted in each picture. I love how I feel like I am right there in the photo with Jessica! You can feel the clouds right over your head.
Have fun with the pictures that you take this summer. There are so many rich and vibrant colors around you. Try to look at things in different ways and see what you can come up with! Have fun with with the beauty of the world around you!
