Altered Halloween Book

Halloween sign

What a wonderful week full of costumes and goodies! I had to take all my kiddos to the dentist yesterday but they didn’t have time to change. I had the biggest smile on my face as I walked in into the dentist with a gaggle of children following all dressed up in their costumes. My youngest, Jessica, whispered into my ear, “Mom…tell them that I’m wearing I costume!” She was so worried that they were going to think that so always dressed like that! So cute!

I found one of our old, beat up baby board books that was going to be thrown away and I had some fun altering it to make it into a Halloween decoration. So easy and quick! The girls have fun making these for gifts for teacher and friends too!

Well I hope that everyone has a fantastic and SPOOKY Halloween!

Painted Pumpkin Fun

I LOVE PUMPKINS! I love making pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, muffins & loaf. I adore carving them into fantastic Jack o Lanterns and then roasting up the seeds while everyone is trick or treating. I even love the shape of a pumpkin. It really is a wonderful squash with wonderful properties to it and it is so good to eat.

    The Properties of a Pumpkin
Having a yellowish-orange color, pumpkin is rich in anti-oxidants and beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is a vitamin that can be converted by the body into vitamin A. This helps the body in its process of regeneration, slowing down the aging process. Pumpkin pulp contains vitamins, especially pro-vitamin A, vitamins E and C, salts and minerals, carbon hydrates, and proteids. The seeds contain oil, proteids, resines and enzymes with antihelmintic properties. The pumpkin's core contains lecithin, tyrosine, peporesine, phosphorus and vitamins B and A.                                                                        ~Live and Feel. com
This year I had fun taking a plastic pumpkin form that I found and altered it. I started by covering the form with Mod Podge and then I used metallic rub on paints and glimmer mists from My Tattered Angels,  to create whimsical patterns.I then embellished. So much FUN!!!

First of all I would like to take the time to apologize to my husband for all the years that I have teased him when he has taken out a roll of duct tape to fix something. I always thought that is was so funny that he used that stuff for everything! Well, no more!!!
I officially LOVE duct or DUCK TAPE!!!! It is amazing stuff! You can create some many cool and amazing things with it. My daughter, Ashley convinced me the other night to go and buy some from Michael’s because she wanted to fix her pencil case. Well, she FIXED it! Look what she did to it! Doesn’t it look FANTASTIC! I love what she did! So now we are going to make a purse and maybe a dress! So watch out world…the WECKESSER WOMEN have duct tape!
Check out the ‘Duck Tape Club’ they have patterns for everything from woven purses to hammocks! Cool!

Ink & Stamps

dream on layout

By nature I have always been a freestyle painter, so when companies like My Tattered Angels came out with paint such as glimmer mist, I was so excited. It is so amazing all the different creative and magical things that you can do with this type of paint. It adds a whole new dimension to your artwork.  It really is amazing how you can add such richness to your scrapbook layout with these mists.

To finish my ‘dimensional’ magic I cut out circles from matching paper and used glue dots to create a 3-D affect on my page. I love the look that it gives that page.

Give a try today and release your artistic side! It is super fun!

Scrapbooking Between 2 Worlds

Ashley Angel

So, I know that likely lots of scrapbookers have been doing this for a very long time, however the digital world of scrapbooking is really quite ‘new’ to me so I thought that I would give it a try… with baby steps! I have been looking at some peoples work and it amazes me what they can do with digital elements on there scrapbooking pages. It really is quite beautiful & it opens up a whole different artistic world. I have no problem editing photographs, so I though I would try to edit a scrapbook page. Maybe next time I will try to add some more digital elements, however I FIRST have to learn HOW to do that! :) I have always been a traditional scrapbooker, but I love all the beautiful digital graphics that are available & becoming easier to work with! Basic Grey is one Traditional scrapbooking company that offers some really awesome digital scrapbooking elements! If you Google the topic there are so many talented designers that sell or sometimes give away graphics, so give it try this week. Mix it in with your traditional styles and you just might like it!

Scrapbooking Fall Sights & Colors

 I love fall - pg 2

I Love fall -pg 1

The colors in fall are so fantastic! Everything looks so rich and vibrant and there are always so many activities going to capture on film. It really is a great time of year to make sure that you have your camera handy to take some pictures and then in the cooler evenings take some time to scrapbook them. Take advantage of some of the neat fall products being put out by manufacturers.

Embossing Folders from Sizzix easily emboss in such a way that select areas of the image appear perfectly faded and distressed. You can turn ordinary cardstock, paper, metallic foil or vellum into an embossed, textured masterpiece by Tim Holtz.

You can really do some creative things this fall. So have some fun!

World Card Making Day is Here!

safe_image.php
For the last few years I would always know that around this time of year that it was ‘World Card Making Day’ and I often thought to myself that that was cool, but I really never knew what it meant.  So this year I googled it. I was fascinated to find out this is what World Card making Day is -
Oct 2. Paper Crafts magazine celebrates the connections handmade cards create and kicks off the holiday card-making season. This day is set aside to offer card makers fun and inspiring environments in which to create by providing card ideas, tips, sweepstakes and ways to connect through store events, classes, group activities and/or individual card making. Annually, the first Saturday in October. This day first began in 2006.
I have always liked this special day in the paper & scrapbooking world, because there really are a lot of neat activities going on. There are events where you can learn new techniques, meet new friends, or even help out organizations. You can check out blogs, manufacturers, magazines, or get together with a group of good friends. I love it!

Have a super, fantastic World Card Making Day!
