Painting Your Scrapbooking Paper

 

 

When making a scrapbooking layout, paint often can be your best friend! Sometimes I just can’t find the right paper to match the photo that I want to scrapbook so I pull out my paints and start playing. I pick out colors that I feel will best convey my feeling or the story in the photo. In the picture above of my daughter, I focused on purples and turquoises for her kind and loving traits and the softness of the photo.  However, I added orange for the funny and silly side that I admire in her. Colors that you use can truly set the tone to your layout. Next time your do a page try to have some fun with some paints. See what you can come up with!

Recycled Dryer Flowers

A little bling from Prima Marketing Inc. adds some whimsical magic!

This dryer sheet was left white.

So if you are like me, you always have a lot of old dryer sheets hanging around. I can't throw them out because that just seems to be such a waste. I started to think of things that I could do with them. It turns out that they make really awesome little flowers for scrapbooks pages or paper crafts. Who knew!?!

Cheesy Salsa Bread

I LUV pasta, but what I like even more then pasta is fresh bread to go with my pasta! So around here on pasta night, I often bake some sort of fresh baked bread to go with the pasta dish. This Cheesy Salsa bread that I made got a lot of praise from even my picky eaters!

 

Ingredients:

bread:

14 oz.  warm water                                                   1 1/4 tsp. salt

2TBSP.  sugar                                                               2 TBSP. butter

2TBSP. dry milk powder                                        4 cups flour

4 tsp. yeast

Mix together & let rise in a warm area.

filling:        

3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese                         1 tsp. garlic butter 

1/2 cup salsa

Roll out dough. Spread on garlic butter, cheese, &  salsa.  Roll up dough starting at one side.  Put onto a greased pan and sprinkle with oat bran. Let rise until doubled in size. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. Enjoy!

Altered Clocks in Springtime

     

I have always loved playing around with old clocks. Even when I was a little girl I remember that every chance that I would get, I would play with the little red cuckoo clock that hung in my bedroom. However, now I have more fun with these great time pieces because I have discovered that with a little bit of gorgeous scrapbook paper and some fantastic embellies like these baubles from Prima Marketing Inc you can make an old clock into a new house hold show piece. It is so easy to do and it hardly takes any time at all.

Paper Trimming & Scrapbooking

 

When scrapbooking, a lot of times I adore the paper that I am using but I can not find quite the right embellishments to go along with what I am doing! So what do I do? I often trim the paper or cut out of it to make patterned pieces to go along with what my theme or color might be.  In the above layout I cut flowers out of matching paper to make matching embellishments- easy & cheap! To spruce up the paper I applied 3-D glitter paint.  Try have some fun with paper trimming.

Easter Fun!!!

    

It doesn’t matter what age  you are but when you put a bowl of hard boiled eggs on the table with some dyes there is sure to be a good time had by everyone! We had a blast making ginger bread Easter bunny houses – yes, you heard me right, last night! Today everyone was full of giggles as we dyed our eggs funky colors. We even gave a couple eggs some cool ‘sunglasses’! I love all the fantastic colors of spring as everything start to come alive again after a long winter!

I hope that everyone has a fantastic Easter! Make sure to keep your camera handy!

It was a Happy April Fool Day.....again!!!!

April Fool's Day was a blast this year! My children are ALWAYS trying to play a practical joke on me. Well, guess what, it was Mom's turn to do the fooling; notice, the above cupcake. I baked their favourite cupcakes to put in their lunches. However, little did they know that I had baked a nice big, juicy olive in the middle of the cupcake and let's just say that they do not like olives in their cupcakes!

 Oh yes I did! I out smarted my teens.

Gotta love when that happens.
